Ever wondered why elite athletes make their sport look easy & effortless ?π§
Because they are typically very good at minimizing βparasitic tension,β.That is the contraction of muscles that are not needed for a specific task. This wastes energy, can lead to injury, and reduces efficiency and range of motion.
In todayβs Yoga in Sport class our focus was to learn the skill of activating only the necessary muscles for the task in hand, improving neuromuscular control and ultimately being more efficient and economical in our movements within our daily activities and our sports.
