We had our first home show on Saturday, and what a night it was. Doors opened at 5pm and by 5:30pm we had completely sold out. Apologies to everyone who couldn’t get in, I honestly didn’t expect it to sell out that quickly. Stressful, exciting, and a real eye-opener all at once.
We were backed by an incredible team and community. The officials, doctor and MC all did a fantastic job, and we’re really grateful for everyone who played a part in making the night happen.
A big shout out to our sponsors as well, your support helped make this event possible and we really appreciate you backing the club.
And our boxers were unbelievable. Every single one of them put in an incredible amount of work leading up to our first home show, and I couldn’t be prouder.
We are still a young club, only affiliated with England Boxing for 12 months, and I’ve only been coaching for 3 years. I’ve always seen myself as a bit of an underdog on the circuit, going up against some very experienced clubs and coaches, but that only fuels my drive to keep improving.
I believe in our team, our community, our boxers, and in myself.
We also have a team of three Level 1 coaches, all parents of some of our young boxers, who have stepped up to support both me and the club. Without them, it would be extremely difficult to manage our junior classes, and I’m hugely grateful for everything they do.
And lastly, our safeguarding officer, she went above and beyond. She’ll say “it’s just what needs to be done,” but the level of care she showed to both home and away teams was unmatched. Managing coaches and boxers, handling the door, creating new policies on the spot… it was honestly incredible. Half the show she was stood there like security in a Stroud Boxing hoodie 😂
I’ve learnt a lot over the last year and this is just the beginning.
