Sporting Rugby Raiders U14s v Soccer Rocks

What a comeback from Sporting Rugby Raiders U14s!

Sporting faced a tough first half against Soccer Rocks, who started strongly. Ollie produced a great save to keep Sporting in the game, but Soccer Rocks found the net shortly afterwards, adding a second soon after. They continued to put pressure on Sporting, scoring twice more to take a commanding 0-4 lead into half-time.

But Sporting came out for the second half with a completely different mindset, showing incredible determination and team spirit.

The comeback began with Noah getting Sporting on the scoresheet. He then battled hard to grab his second of the game, bringing the score back to 2-4. Finn followed up with another goal to make it 3-4, and suddenly the game was very much alive!

Soccer Rocks restored their two-goal advantage with a goal from a free kick following a foul, making it 3-5. They then had the chance to extend their lead further from the penalty spot but missed.

Sporting weren’t finished yet! Reni found the net to make it 4-5, before Yash produced a brilliant equaliser with just minutes remaining to complete an incredible comeback!

From 0-4 down at half-time to fighting back to 5-5, this was a fantastic display of character, resilience and togetherness.

An unbelievable second-half performance from the Raiders. They never gave up, kept battling for each other and showed exactly what team spirit is all about. Proud of every single player! ⚽💙💛

Raiders vs Upper Lighthorne

A cold but sunny morning at home for the Raiders, ready for another opportunity to show just how much progress the boys are making!

Nick started in goal, ready for a strong performance, with Joel and Jax in defence, Hugo in midfield and Jaxon leading the attack.

The boys worked brilliantly together from the start and were quickly rewarded for their efforts. There was some great teamwork, with the boys finding their rhythm early and putting their hard work into practice.

Oli swapped with Jaxon and made an immediate impact, bringing fresh energy into the game. Owen came on for Joel and made some well-timed tackles, helping to keep things organised at the back.

The Raiders found themselves in a comfortable position by half-time, having put together a strong first-half performance.

For the second half, Taò joined Owen, Joel and Jaxon as the boys got back underway. The Raiders continued with strong, dominant attacks, showing confidence and intent as they looked to build on their first-half work.

Further changes saw Oli swap with Jaxon and Owen swap with Jax. The boys continued to pass the ball well and work together as a team, creating opportunities going forward. Taò found himself in some fantastic positions in the box, showing great awareness and making himself available for his teammates.

A special mention to Nick in goal, who made numerous brilliant saves throughout the game! He showed fantastic confidence coming off his line to collect the ball from the opposition strikers, helping his team massively. A really strong performance between the sticks!

Another excellent team performance from the Raiders! The boys are continuing to grow in confidence, work for each other and show real progress week after week. 💙⚽

Players of the Match

🏆 Parents’ Player – Joel

Joel put in a really strong performance. What stood out most was the way he overcame a setback and used it as motivation to improve his game. He showed real maturity, bounced back brilliantly and demonstrated a fantastic attitude. A great example of resilience and determination!

🏆 Managers’ Player – Jax

Another step forward in confidence for Jax! His performances continue to grow, and he is really starting to trust his ability on the pitch. His efforts were well rewarded, and he maintained a strong, consistent performance throughout the game. Brilliant to see his progress continuing! 👏

Another great team performance, Raiders! The hard work is paying off, the confidence is growing, and the boys are continuing to show what they can achieve together.

💙 Well done, Raiders! ⚽👏

🏆 Cup Heartbreak for Sporting Rugby Raiders U14s

Bulkington U14s 3–2 Sporting Rugby Raiders U14s.

Sporting Rugby Raiders U14s were involved in a thrilling cup tie against Bulkington, with both sides battling hard in a closely contested match that took extra time to separate them.

Sporting started brightly, with Noah coming close in the opening five minutes. The early pressure soon paid off as Sporting took the lead, with Noah finishing off a great pass from Tobias to make it 0–1.

Bulkington responded shortly afterwards to bring the scores level, keeping the game finely balanced. Ollie was then called into action, producing another excellent save to keep Sporting in the contest.

Sporting regained the lead with another superb piece of link-up play. This time, Noah turned provider, delivering a great pass to Tobias, who finished to put Raiders 1–2 ahead.

The second half remained tight, with both teams working hard and chances at a premium. Bulkington eventually found the equaliser, setting up a tense finish with the cup tie still anyone’s game.

With neither side able to find a winner in normal time, the match went into extra time. Sadly, Bulkington struck the decisive goal to take the victory and end Sporting’s cup run.

A tough result to take after such a closely fought performance. The lads showed plenty of determination, created some excellent moments of football and pushed their opponents all the way. There was very little between the two sides, and the result could easily have gone either way.

Heads up, lads — plenty of positives to take into the next game! 💙⚽
