3/3 today for Team Unity at the first round of the NABGCs 🔥🔥🔥

First up was 🧑🏽‍🦱. Up against a more experienced lad, he boxed beautifully to a unanimous decision win.

Next was Roccorichiehughes in his toughest bout to date, his first 3x3s, against a lad with double the bouts he’s had. That never fazed him. He got better as the bout went on and was awarded a split decision win in a hard fought contest.

Finally, sonnyboy_hughes faced a tricky lad in his first bout after a tough summer dealing with injuries. He dusted off the cobwebs with a unanimous decision win and now moves on to the next round against another good lad.

Proud of all three 👊

We will never tolerate hate to anyone regardless of Faith, Race, Gender, Age etc...
We are a Muslim led Community Boxing gym in Rotherham and work hard to create a space for all the community here. We dont care about where your from as long as you want to box. The power of boxing doesn't just build individual strength it builds commUNITY.
Hate only divides us.
We will not tolerate hateful comments or hate speech.
And sadly our founder has felt after the last few months the need in his role to speak out about this.
These videos dont come easy to make.
It comes with a heavy heart.
(And not the best editing apologies from Emma its not my forte)
But Islam is part of our individual identities as coaches its part of our gym identity.
Religion is currently being weaponised to divide us once again and at Unity we are for building bridges not burning then down.
We are always happy to build cohesion and educate, sharing awareness and we wont let it divide us.
We move forward with positivity and love.
Through the power of boxing we endeavour to keep making a positive difference in our town and we are looking forward to helping as many people as we can this Christmas. Although Im not sure Emma is looking forward to shopping with Abdul again 🤣.
Our ethos is
Unity is strength
And Strength is power
We stand together against intolerance and hate

There's alot of work that goes in behind the scenes of Building successful projects and partnerships takes time. From writing bids and planning programs to handling compliance and endless meetings, getting projects off the ground is a huge task. It takes a hardworking team both in and out of the ring. Most of this work is unpaid it's done out of sheer dedication to the sport and to Rotherham, because we want to keep these safe spaces and communities thriving.

Actually delivering the projects is often the easy part.

Everything our team and Saif’s have achieved happens in an environment as competitive as the sport itself, requiring real collaboration and a mix of individual strengths it can often take even more effort than preparing someone for the ring.

A huge thanks goes to the people behind the scenes. Without all that unseen work, we wouldn't be where we are today. We’re growing stronger together.

It's World Mental Health Day.
At Unity, mental wellbeing is a priority for us 365 days a year.
All our coaches are trained in mental health, and many are MHFA and Youth MHFA certified.
We run free, bespoke classes every Tuesday at 11:00 am, and a youth class on Sundays at 11:00 am. We're also still working with RBMind on a men's mental health project on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 1 pm.
Boxing has really changed the conversation around mental health.
We’ll always stay committed to the wellbeing of our entire Unity family.
If you’re struggling, please reach out; we’re here to support you however we can. We’d much rather you take our time than go through it alone.
Here are some helpful numbers if you need them.
