Bridge training is good spine and shoulder training.

If you struggle overhead in your lifting, bridge training can help improve this.

Sheriffmuir stones, 7 stones in total including the Wallace plinth.

Weight ranging from 55kg, 73kg, 95kg, 120kg, 130kg, 163kg.

Managed to lift the 120kg to chest and just about break the 130kg off the ground.

Faha Graveyard lifting stones, Faha, County Clare.

Here there are two stones Cloch na Fear (162kg) & Cloch na mbean(112kg) the one I’m lifting here.

Couldn’t get the other to move unfortunately but, we have it a go.

First time stone lifting and coming away with a whole new perspective around stone lifting and appreciation for the people who do it.

What happens in the room is the show.

I think the less you stress about making everything optimal and expecting every day to be your best the longer it will take to see progress as well as lead to frustration.

Being prepared to improvise and adapt where necessary and realise not every session can be your best leads to a more sustained approach.

Realising that even if you have a bad sessions it may just be today or that even though you couldn’t back squat today but still did a squat movement is still good and that tomorrow may be better leads to a better mindset around training keeping you in the game for longer.

Been down the rabbit hole of Karl Gotch on YouTube from lots of cool exercises and ways of thinking about moving in exercises to develop both strength and ranges.

Not everyone has access to the double rope setup but it’s pretty fun and challenging.

Ring work is fun.

This is one of the things where we need to treat it as a skill and not a workout, spreading out the reps as needed so we’re not fatigued in each attempt.

Is there a time and benefit to performing the skill under fatigue? Yes, but at the right time.
