I recently had a conversation with an athlete who asked me for a program.

We talked through his goals and I explained how my coaching services can help.

"But I'm just looking for a program to follow, I don't want coaching".

The problem is, a program is just a tool. It works if everything goes perfectly.
Except training is rarely perfect.

What happens if you miss a session?
Pick up a knock from a game?
What about that big deadline at work?

Your program doesn't adapt on its own.

But a good coach will make your training work around your life. They give you the tools to keep progressing, no matter the obstacles.

That's the difference between a program and coaching.

If you want more tools to solve the challenges of training, I have a couple of Online Coaching slots available.

Drop me a DM and let's chat through your goals 🤝

Fun fact about me: I used to row when I was a teenager. In fact, I've raced on the Olympic course 3 times and have a Gold medal from Junior Nationals.

As fun as it is to be out on the water in the sun, the reality is you spend a lot of your times indoors, sat on an ergo like this one.

But, pretty much every gym in the world has a Rowing machine, so you might as well learn how to use one properly.

It's actually easier than it looks. Just remember:
1) Leg Drive
2) Body Lean
3) Pull

Then to return to the front (the Catch position):
4) Hands Away
5) Body Lean
6) Bend Your Knees

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Your hands are what dictate your stroke speed (behave). Fast hands = fast speed.

Give these tips a go next time you jump on a rowing machine 🤝
