Another away game for the U10s yesterday as we took the coastal road to Arbroath.
A tough morning under an unusually sunny Arbroath pitch but the girls gave their all from start to finish.
Our Player of the Match this week made sure the opposition had a difficult time though, working forward and coming back to support the team. Getting on the scoresheet was the cherry on top to mark a great game.

Fair City v Fairmuir

Never a dull game when we play Fairmuir. An absolute banker for a cheeky wee fiver on both teams to score 😜😂

As predicted it was a real end to end game from the start, with both teams opting for attack and going for it.

The first half was very even. We raced into an early 2 goal lead, but Fairmuir hit back. With neither team able to take control, we’d ping pong, to halftime. Breathless stuff from both teams!

Highlight for us was Sophie’s long range thunderbolt into the top corner. An amazing strike ⚽️

Into the second half and we frustratingly fell apart for 15 minutes and we were duly punished by the impressive Fairmuir striker. We just couldn’t handle her skill and tenacity and she took no prisoners 😂

Once we steadied ourselves from the Fairmuir No9s onslaught we grew back into the game and grabbed another couple of well worked goals.

A tip of the hat has to go to Cassie as she smashed her own thunderbolt top bins. Obviously a day for the spectacular.

In the end it was a brilliant game of football against a team who we always have enjoyable games against. Shame we couldn’t get the win but plenty of positives in our performance once again. We just need to sharpen up “as a team” defensively.
We create so many good opportunities, we know that when we click, we’re a threat.

We asked for a response after last weeks poor showing. Our main gripe was getting out run and giving up. Today the attitude and work rate was spot on. Can’t ask for more than that!

We just need to piece it all together consistently.

The U10s were on their travels this morning, the host, Kinross!
A very even game that could have gone either way, both teams making some great passes, defending well and plenty of shots on goal. A great game for the neutral!

Carnoustie v Fair City

It’s been a long 10 week wait for a match but this morning the FC girls made their way up the A90 Carnoustie bound to take on the ever impressive Carnoustie Panmure.

It’s an old football cliche but it really was a game of two halves.

The first half was a really good contest. We were well in the game, creating good chances that unfortunately we just couldn’t convert. Credit to our opponents too, who played some great football and made it a really enjoyable match.

All good, more of the same but take those chances please.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Out came a goal scoring Carnoustie and they blasted a couple of quick fire goals past us and we lost our way. We did recompose ourselves and rallied but our hosts were on top and in no mood to be kind. Several more goals followed and in the end we were well beaten.

Overall, though, it was a great game of football with plenty of positives to take from the first half ⚽️👏

Well played to Carnoustie and all the best!

Oddly, in all the excitement we forgot to fulfill our duties and grab a photo of the girls and hand out our player of the match 😂

Opened their block of games today with a tough test against Breadalbane & Strathtay on a warm day.

A good way to open up and a first introduction for the girls to having a referee in the middle as we get used to playing 9v9 games.

Really pleased with the learning the girls are showing so far as they begin to understand playing offsides.

Hard to pick just one player of the match today as they all got stuck in and gave their all today.

Martha - some really good work defensively and when playing higher up in attack showing a good understanding of positioning and offside

With no opponents today, the girls weren’t letting that stop them from getting their footie fix!

So this morning we picked sides and turned what could have been a lazy morning into a full on in-house match.

Plenty of good play, goals, laughs and questionable ref decisions were the order of the day.

Sometimes you just have to make your own game! 😎

Our first match back in the new block was a home game as we welcomed Raith Rovers Blues to the Inch, a team we played in the last game of the last block!
They brought the same intensity as last time, were a tough team and difficult to breakdown. Our girls worked hard in the morning heat, making it very difficult for them.
Our Player of the Match this week covered every blade of grass across the back line, multiple times over, making crucial tackles and passes forward to put the opposition on the back foot.
