Crieff Juniors 3-2 Scone Thistle Reds

Our league campaign kicked off on Thursday night with an away fixture against Crieff Juniors. We started the game really well and opened the scoring after only 2 minutes when a strong header from Harry won back possession and played in Darcy who from the edge of the box sent a great strike low into the bottom corner, 0-1 Scone.

Crieff would get back on level terms on 11 minutes when a slack pass from us gave possession to their striker wide right and he cut inside and finished well into the far corner, 1-1.

Into the second half and Crieff would take the lead from the penalty spot 4 minutes after the restart for an alleged handball when blocking a shot from the edge of the box, 2-1 Crieff.

The heads didn’t go down though and on 59 minutes a terrific inswinging corner from Harry was met powerfully by Matthew who forced the ball over the line, 2-2.

We almost took the lead straight from kick off when terrific pressing from John saw him rob Crieff of possession but just when he was about to pull the trigger the Crieff defender produced a terrific last ditch tackle to prevent a certain goal.

On 62 minutes Crieff would grab what would turn out to be the winner when we didn’t deal with a high looping ball their striker reacted fastest to calmly slot the ball home, 3-2 Crieff,

A close battle this one and the boys were gutted at the end not to get something from the game, a physical game played in the right way, all the very best to Crieff for the rest of the season.

The man of the match went to Matthew who put in a commanding performance at the back winning lots of arial duels and also starting many attacks with his composure on the ball, well done Matthew.

Arbroath Harp 0-8 Scone Thistle Reds

This afternoon we travelled up the east coast to play Arbroath Harp in our final fixture in the league cup group stages. After 2 wins and one defeat we knew victory today would see us through as runners up in the group.

For the first time this season we were at full strength with John returning from
Injury/suspension and Jacob suspension free to make his competitive debut for the club.

The boys delivered the victory by putting in a commanding performance having lots of possession and creating numerous chances.

Today’s man of the match went to Jacob who put in an energetic performance down the left linking up well with team mates from left back and delivered some great balls into the box, well done Jacob!

Scone Thistle Reds 10-0 Dundee Sporting

Tonight we played our third game of our league cup group section, after a win and a defeat we knew we had to get a victory tonight to have any chance of progressing. We put in a controlled performance from start to finish scoring some great goals. Special mention to Thomas grabbing his first hat trick for the club but tonight’s man of the match went to Darcy who put in a great shift playing up front and in midfield showing a great passing range as well as being clever on the ball, well done Darcy!
