Match Report:
Last game for the Sky Blues, away at Lochgelly Albert! A place we have never won at.
Launcherhead Park is also a place with its own distinct and separate weather system, namely it’s permanently wet and windy!!
As with our recent cup final meeting the game starts evenly balanced with both teams playing some decent football.
Lochgelly put us under a bit of pressure and MR1 is forced into a good save, there are also a couple of good old fashioned stramashes in our box.
We are also playing some decent football though, and draw first blood, Kaan delivers a great ball towards the back post and Caleb finishes well.
Lochgelly 0 Letham sky blues 1
The game remains entertaining and a couple of blues missed chances are punished as Lochgelly equalise!
1-1
Some really decent football sees Ryan C slip Watson through who takes it round the goalie and scores.
A third goal follows, with a well worked move involving most of the team and Ryan Watson finishes in the top corner. He edges ahead in the top goalscorer chart. I say edges, he’s 22 in front!!
Meantime, Logan, who has been outstanding picks up an injury and is replaced by steely Sam Buchanan.
Half time
Lochgelly Albert 1 Sky blues 3
The second half continues as a very decent game and Lochgelly get themselves back in it, when a long wind assisted clearance takes a funny bounce, Matthew slips as he tries to gather and the ball ends up in the net.
2-3
Liam and Callum continue to rampage up and down their respective flanks, Tam is solid at CDM and Lewis and Matthew Castle are causing havoc as wingers. The next goal feels really important.
Ryan C wins a foul at the edge of the box. Zidane would have applauded his free kick as it curls into the corner.
Lochgelly 2 Sky Blues 4
Robbie and Kieran come on and play their part as Skipper Caleb, who has been immense, comes off with a hamstring injury.
Full time sees another Blues victory in front of our usual impressive ultra-esq away support.
We have had a phenomenal end of the season.
Last 7 games, sees 6 victories with a goal tally of 36 and 12 conceded.
There are plenty of emotions in the changing room afterwards as we know it’s the end of an era! The coaches are presented with an amazing gift. As coaches we make sure ALL the players know how proud we are of them.
Lochgelly, for their part, have been tough opponents over the years and we wish them all the best.
