🏹 Goodbye Gannochy… until the spring! 🌿

Tonight was our last outdoor session of the season at Gannochy, and what a great turnout! A brilliant way to make the most of the weather before we do what any sensible Scottish archer does this time of year… escape indoors! 😂☔❄️

From Sunday, we’re heading to Perth High School for our indoor sessions.

Thanks to everyone who has joined us outdoors this season - we’ve had some great evenings of sunshine, wind, rain… and everything else the Scottish weather wanted to throw at us! 😆

🏹 A busy weekend of archery for Perth Archery Club! 🏹
It’s been another action-packed weekend for our archers, with members competing across the country in a variety of disciplines.

🏹 Scottish Tour – Stage 3, Elgin
Frazer and Jess were in Elgin for Stage 3 of the Scottish Tour, adding another challenging weekend of competition to the season.

🌲 Field Archery
And over in the field, Annabel had an absolutely fantastic weekend! She shot PBs in both Saturday’s Hunter Round and Sunday’s Field Round, an amazing achievement.

Even better, those performances saw her retain her Junior Female Scottish Outdoor Field Champion title! 🏆🥇

🎯 Clout Weekend
James was also out shooting clout over the weekend. Day 1 wasn't exactly what he had hoped for, despite shooting his season’s average. He'd been hoping for a chance to improve on it, but at least there was one highlight - a rather nice flag shot! 🎯

And apparently, it happens more often than you might think… although not bad for 165m! 😂

Day 2 brought another tough but enjoyable day, with plenty more things to practise. The scoring was still similar to Saturday, but James was much happier with how he handled the changeable weather - particularly surviving the thunderous downpour! ⛈️

A busy weekend, lots of different disciplines and plenty to be proud of. Well done to everyone who was out shooting! 🏹👏

🏹 Scottish Outdoor Championships & Perth Archery Club Championships 🏹

What a fantastic weekend of outdoor archery! ☀️

A huge congratulations to everyone who took home a medal at the Scottish Outdoor Championships at Balbardie, with some brilliant performances across the weekend.

Day 1 - Juniors & 50+

Perth Archery Club results:

🥈 James – 2nd, Longbow Open
🥇 Frazer – 1st, U16 Barebow
🥇 Henry – 1st, U21 Recurve

Day 2 - Seniors

Niels, Frazer and James were representing Perth Archery Club, with some great shooting.

👏 Niels narrowly missed out on a podium place after some fantastic scores at 90m and 30m.

👏 Frazer gained some valuable experience competing in the Barebow Open, putting in a steady performance equivalent to Bowman classification.

👏 And well done to James for another strong showing in the Longbow Open. Congratulations on your Silver medal!

Perth Archery Club Championships

It was also our Perth Archery Club Outdoor Championships on Sunday! It was great to see all four bowstyles represented, with members competing in Recurve, Barebow, Traditional and Compound.

🎯 A fantastic day at the Bannockburn Open!

Five Perth Archery Club archers took part in today’s Bannockburn Open, shooting the St George, Albion and Windsor rounds against the stunning backdrop of the Wallace Monument.

A few showers tried to challenge us, but it was a great day of shooting at a really well-organised competition.

And what a result for the club - four medals coming home to Perth! Along with a few bottles of w**e and other goodies from the cake stall and raffle 🎟️🧁

A huge well done to all five of our archers for representing the club, and a massive thank you to the organisers and everyone involved in putting on such a fantastic event.

🌑🎯 A very Scottish solar eclipse experience…

Tonight’s shooting started with a safety briefing about stopping shooting if the solar eclipse made conditions too dark.

We needn’t have worried. It got slightly darker than normal, and unfortunately the clouds meant we couldn’t actually see the eclipse.

Because… Scotland. ☁️🤣

Meanwhile, one of our club members in Somerset managed to capture this absolutely amazing photo! 🌒📸

Oh well, the shooting session was uninterrupted - so we can’t complain! 😂🏹

Somerset definitely won the eclipse-viewing competition, though! 🌒📸

We’re especially proud that one of Perth Archery Club’s junior archers is part of the Under-21 Scotland team.

A huge well done to everyone from Perth Archery Club who represented the club over both days of the Scottish Tour Stage 2 in Ayr this weekend! 🎯

Our archers competed across both the Barebow and Recurve categories, taking on some truly challenging conditions. With plenty of wind and rain, it was a weekend that really tested skill, determination and resilience.

Despite the weather doing its best to make life difficult, we're delighted to celebrate a fantastic Silver medal in the Recurve Open! 🥈

Congratulations to all of our archers for flying the flag for Perth Archery Club. We hope you've all had a chance to dry out! 🌧️👏

We’re certainly being spoiled with the weather at the moment, and tonight was another perfect evening on the range! ☀️🏹

With Stage 2 of the Scottish Tour in Ayr taking place this weekend, a few of our archers were putting in some focused competition practice. Others decided to mix things up with some fun target faces, proving that there’s always room for a bit of variety!

It was also fantastic to see so many new faces, including several juniors, joining us. We hope you all enjoyed your evening and we look forward to seeing you back on the shooting line soon.

A great evening at the club tonight with something for everyone! ☀️🏹

Our coaches ran a competition preparation workshop, sharing tips and advice to help members feel more confident and ready for tournaments. A big thank you to everyone involved in delivering the session.

Meanwhile, the rest of the club enjoyed a relaxed evening of shooting in the sunshine, making the most of the lovely weather.

There was even a bit of creativity on the shooting line, with a couple of members swapping the usual target faces for a dartboard face to add a fun twist to their practice! 🎯
