Rhino’s Rovers Awards Night brought the season to an end in style.

What a season it’s been.

Tomorrow see’s some of Rhino’s Rovers take to the field in a charity event to help raise money for a great cause.
All sorts of stuff happening at Bothwellhaugh @ Strathy Park between 12pm & 4pm.

2 teams entered. Some still a bit leggy after the Lava Cup last weekend but still keen for a wee kick about b4 the champions league tomorrow night 🙌🏽

Cash only for food, bouncy castle & face painter. So come down & see Rhino with a tigers face if that’s ur thing 😉🤣

Sunday saw Rhino’s Rovers head to down to sunny Douglas to play Glenbuck in a little friendly game.

The aim was to get the over 40s moving & help them prepare for the lava cup tournament which is this Saturday.
A few young ones in each team helped get them moving & chasing 🤣
Was a great wee game. Played in great spirit.

At the end of the game. Big Barry from Glenbuck was presented with player of the season award for over 35s category in . His biggest gift was getting me to be in his team again & his captain 😉🤣

A few others picked up their medals from league duty as well. Think the score was 10-9 but it wasn’t about scores- just a run out ❤️⚽️

The champions finished of their league campaign with a re-arranged game v wishaw at Ravenscraig on Thursday night in the .

Rovers started the game well enough & if it wasn’t for the goalkeeper we could’ve been 2 or 3 up. But it wasn’t to be & as we found ourselves trying to force it-we left ourselves exposed to the counter attack & got punished for it.

Think it was 4- nil at half time.

A change a half time saw us continue to press & have all the ball but very little room to open wishaw up. The game was stop start with constant fouls. The Wishaw yellow armband was top class tbf & keep causing us problems on the break with his pace & power. His closing us down was also exceptional.
Porter in the heart of defence was also decent. Upfront they had Daniel who had an excellent game.

We kept prodding away. Weddy got a couple back as he tried his hardest to lift us. Robbie sent a great cross in to the box the Rhino put enough pressure on Porter to get him to panic & turn it in to his own net. But as the game went on- the hangover from all the champagne last Sunday took its toll. We ran out of ideas & steam but fortunately for us….. it was well & truly past the finished line 😉🏆

A few tournaments coming up in May for us so keep ur eyes peeled.

Sunday was trophy 🏆 day in the

Sun shining & hair sorted but 1st thing 1st- we had a game to play. the opposition & closest to us in the league. The last game was 5-4 to us so was expecting a similar tough game.

The Rovers had a real spring in their step though. The section C Crewe singing away. Drums beating away. & the goals got tucked away.

Weddy was immense up top 1st half - centre mid 2nd half.
Robbie, Rhino & Callum helped massively with attacking options.
Stu had a quiet day as Glenbuck went long to Barry but still produced a decent save or 2.
Nick, John & Stu gave nothing away at the back though.
Burnsy, Gav & Chris O were the cool heads throughout the game.
Captain marvel Mr McGraw had to go early with an injury. Thankfully it comes at the end of season as he’s been pivotal in our guidance.

On a personal note. Seeing a lot of kids ( & wife’s ) watching their Auld Da’s brought an enormous smile to all 😊❤️
