Match Report | Holytown Colts Reds 2011s

Last night the 2011s Reds travelled to Falkirk for our final league game before the summer break.

High-flying Falkirk got off to a fast start and maintained the pressure throughout the match. Despite the 12-0 scoreline, the Reds never stopped battling. Every player continued to work hard, support each other, and keep their heads held high against a very well-organised Falkirk side.

The rebuild at the Reds continues to grow, and both the players and coaches are working hard. Over the break we’ll have plenty of friendly matches and training sessions as we focus on improving, developing, and coming back ready to fight for the second half of the season.

A huge congratulations to Promise, who was selected by the referee as our Woman of the Match. 👏 Despite the scoreline, Promise was outstanding between the sticks, making a number of excellent saves, showing great determination, and never letting her head drop. A thoroughly deserved recognition for a fantastic performance.

Thank you to Falkirk for rearranging the fixture, allowing everyone the chance to enjoy the Scotland game on Sunday.

​It was a test of sheer grit and character for the Holytown Colts this week as they faced off against a tough Bo'ness side. Entering the match with a razor-thin squad and just a single substitute on the bench, the Colts knew they were facing an uphill battle.
​The lack of fresh legs made it incredibly difficult to dictate the pace of the game and hold out under a lot of pressure from the opposition.

Special recognition goes to Olivia, who delivered a standout performance when the team needed it most. Stepping up to play as Centre Back, she adapted seamlessly into the role. From delivering dangerous, pinpoint corner kicks to putting in crucial, well-timed defensive challenges, Olivia was everywhere. Her adaptability and work ethic rightfully earned her the Player of the Match honors.

​While the numbers advantage made it difficult to secure the ultimate result, the pride in this performance comes from the effort. Every single player left everything on the field, showing the true spirit of the Holytown Colts. With that level of work ethic, the rewards will undoubtedly come.

🔴⚪ MATCH REPORT ⚪🔴

Today the girls welcomed Cumbernauld Colts Blues to our home ground, and as expected, it was an excellent advert for the girls’ game. Both teams did their clubs proud with a fantastic, competitive match full of quality football. 👏⚽

Cumbernauld started brightly and took the lead in the 7th minute with a superb strike from outside the box before adding a second just three minutes later to make it 2-0.

The Reds refused to let their heads drop and continued to battle, pressing hard and looking for a way back into the game. Unfortunately, Cumbernauld grabbed a third goal to extend their lead to 3-0.

But the action was far from over in the first half! Captain Lucia Murphy pulled one back in the 26th minute to give the Reds hope, and just four minutes later we were awarded a free kick in a dangerous area. Up stepped Kayla Thomson, who unleashed an unstoppable strike straight into the top corner! 🚀🔥

Thirty minutes. Five goals. What a half of football!

The second half continued at a relentless pace, with both teams going end-to-end, putting in great tackles, creating chances, and showing tremendous determination. Despite our best efforts, the score remained unchanged and the match finished:
