Meet Hannah, our new Lead Instructor & Studio Manager! ✨

Some of you may have already met Hannah this week, as she joined us in the studio yesterday and will now be a regular face around Nera Pilates! You’ll find her teaching Monday evenings, Saturday mornings, and from July we’ll be introducing Friday evening classes too (watch this space… 👀). Hannah will also be covering classes across the timetable, so you’ll likely see her around the studio throughout the week.

A little bit from Hannah herself...

“Movement has always been a huge part of my life. I started dancing at the age of three and have always loved being active, so health, fitness and wellbeing have naturally been passions of mine for as long as I can remember.

Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate just how important movement is, not only for our physical health but for our mental wellbeing too. Reformer Pilates quickly became something I fell in love with because of the way it helps you build strength, improve posture and feel more connected to your body, all while creating space to slow down and be present.

After experiencing those benefits myself, I decided to qualify as a Reformer Pilates Instructor so I could help others feel the same confidence, strength and enjoyment through movement.

My teaching style is rooted in the classical principles of Pilates, with a strong focus on alignment, posture, precision and control. I love helping clients understand the purpose behind each movement and encouraging them to move with intention.

My goal is for everyone who comes to class to leave feeling stronger, energised and more connected to their body than when they arrived. Whether you’re completely new to Reformer Pilates or have been practicing for years, I want you to feel comfortable, supported and welcome in my classes.

I’m always happy to chat about goals, injuries, modifications, or anything else that will help you get the most out of your sessions.

Ever found yourself mid-hundreds or deep into a lunging series on the reformer, and your legs start vibrating like an old washing machine? 🫨💨

First rule of Reformer Pilates: Do not panic.

That wobble isn’t a sign of weakness, and it definitely doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. In fact, it means you are doing it 𝑒𝑥𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑙𝑦 right.

Here is what’s actually happening when the shake takes over:

- 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: Reformer Pilates intentionally slows things down. Your muscles are working under constant, controlled resistance, pushing them past their usual comfort zone.

- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐆𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭" 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬: The reformer loves to recruit tiny, deep stabilizing muscles that standard gym workouts often miss. When they wake up, they make some noise.

- 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 > 𝐌𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦: It’s easy to use speed to cheat a movement. But when you move with control? Your muscles have nowhere to hide.

The shake isn’t failure; 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬. It’s the exact moment your strength and muscular endurance are leveling up.

So next time the springs start talking back, don't try to look effortless. Just breathe, lean into it, and move with awareness.

It starts as a workout, but it ends as a ritual.

There’s a beautiful shift that happens when you commit to the reformer. At first, you’re just focusing on the movement -- the coordination, the balance, the breath. But then, the movement starts to follow you home.

It stops being another "to-do" and starts being your reset. The hour where the noise of the day finally goes quiet, and you leave feeling more like yourself than when you walked in.

It’s not just about a stronger body; it’s about that intentional time you’ve carved out to simply be present. From the first session to the daily routine, it’s a practice of coming back to yourself.
