Another charity game yesterday in our 3rd annual fixture against a young STB side with a few past and current Hughsie players in their ranks. We played this one in memory of our former President John Starrs who recently passed and whose charities SADS UK and Parkinson's UK were supported from the proceeds of the match. STB came out winners 2-1 on the day in a very close match with Hughsie edging the series so far 2-1 matches overall. Thanks to some of Hughsie u18s making their excellent debuts and to A - Z Photography for taking the photos along with everyone else that supported us 🎗️⚽️

Really really sad news for our club. Our former president John Starrs on Saturday passed away in hospital. John had been there from the start with Hughsie and was much loved by all the players and families connected to us. John as an ex Man City scout worked for many years with some of football biggest names including Pep Guardiola and Kevin Keegan.

John scouted players mainly in the UK for Manchester City including many who then went onto to play for England. Joe Hart, Kyle Walker, John Stones, and Raheem Sterling were all recommended to Manchester sh*tty by John. He did however reject Neymar who went onto PSG for 200 million

John famously attempted the most outrageous diving header aged 60+ for us in a charity match you would ever witness. He was like superman flying through the air until eventually missing the ball completely.

We would like to offer our condolences to his boy and a Hughsie OG Paul Starrs who has been in our teams for 25+ years .

We all loved John and we will make sure his memory with us and Hughsie FC is never forgotten ⚽️💔

Hughsie FC second tournament win this time with our U14s Lincoln United FC - Juniors Lincolnshire Women & Girls Football League. Both our teams were unbeaten all day and loved being back playing football in the Sun 🏆⚽️🎗️
