Boxing Scene is reporting that Eddie Hearn has put forward a number of demands as negotiations continue for a potential blockbuster showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury on November 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Among the reported requests are assurances that Zuffa Boxing would not be involved in promoting the event, along with agreements surrounding ticket allocations, security and transportation arrangements. Hearn is also reportedly seeking clarity over Matchroom’s share of the purse earned from Joshua’s previous fight against Robert Helenius replacement Jermaine Franklin? [Need correct opponent: Prenga]—as well as other financial considerations connected to Joshua's fight with Prenga.

The proposed event could also feature a stacked undercard packed with Matchroom fighters. Potential bouts reportedly include Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez vs. Christian Medina, Jack Catterall vs. Keyshawn Davis, and a heavyweight clash between Murat Gassiev and Jarrell Miller.

I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a voice in my head getting louder by the day—telling me that Fury vs Joshua was always destined to take place in the UK, and that everything we’ve seen so far may have been one huge publicity stunt.

And, to be fair, if that was the plan, it’s worked.

Dana White has repeatedly said he negotiated the venue, but one thing he has never actually confirmed is that the fight will take place in America. That distinction is worth remembering.

After all, these men are making millions. The bigger the speculation, the more attention the fight receives—and few people understand the value of drama better than those involved.

So, would I be surprised if Fury vs Joshua ends up back in the UK, with Zuffa Boxing playing a role? Not whatsoever.

Especially when you consider that Turki has never been afraid to create a little drama along the way.
