U11 Lions Tournament Report
Wormley Rovers Tournament
🏆🥈 Cup Runners Up 🥈🏆
The Lions made the short trip to Wormely for their 2nd tournament of the summer & having finished as runners-up last year, were hoping to go one step better this time round & with a full squad to choose from were able to enter two teams into the tournament under Lions Reds and Lions Whites
The Reds group was reduced to just three teams due to a team no show, so a walkover& a couple of draws (Poppy scoring a superb solo goal in one of the games) was enough to see them progress to the semis where they faced the other Lions team (Whites)
A great battle between the two teams was decided with a Harper goal with the last kick of the game saw them through to the final.
The final saw the Lions (Reds) dominate from start to finish but were unable to take their chances & those missed chances came back to haunt the team as they once again lost on penalties.
The Whites topped their group, winning one game (Goals from Betsy & Tiffany) & drawing the other two & conceding zero goals. The Whites then faced the other Lions team & they were unlucky to be on the losing side as their tournament came to an end.
Overall, another good showing from the Lions which showed the squad depth but once again it was all about fine margins
Finally, thanks to Wormley Rovers for hosting the tournament. A great afternoon with some excellent football on show throughout!
