Studies show that over the course of several weeks, fat loss slows down - this can vary between as little as 2 weeks in to a dieting phase for people with efficient metabolisms, or up to 8-10 weeks for those with inefficient metabolisms.
The reason is not so much due to the down regulation of fat loss hormones, but simply because the LONGER that we spend dieting, the LESS we want to move!
The less we move, the less calories we expend = less calories burnt.
Our body wants to conserve energy as a natural defence mechanism!
When starting a fat loss program/phase, the majority of the time people go from doing nothing for months, maybe even years - to exercising every day and eating less, it's one extreme to the other!
It's easy to feel motivated in the beginning, you're keen and full of energy, so you move more!
Over the course of a few months you become tired, hungry and less attached to your goal.
Our bodies are smart, they tell us to conserve energy by moving less - in other words, this means you are now no longer in a calorie deficit because your body has metabolically adapted.
A CALORIE DEFICIT WILL ALWAYS WORK.
This is why it's so crucial to have simple protocols in place such as a daily step target which can be progressed over time; no matter how we are feeling, we should be getting this done.
We are in control of all of our variables, and the more we are in control, the better our results!
