Do you hate what you see in the mirror?

I used to.

I would obsess over how my hair sat

If my make up was ok

If my clothes were too tight

After I ate how my stomach looked

What the scale weight would say 5 times a day.

I would spend so much time googling and researching the best way to lose fat

Or how to tone my legs and stomach, both areas I hated

I would change my outfit numerous times before going out

I would try the latest fad diets whether it was cutting out carbs, liquid diets, cutting out all fat and sugar, took fat burning pills, pounding the treadmill in the gym

Trying to burn as many calories as possible

But where did it get me?

No where.

Infact it just lead me to being in a lonelier, more unhappy place.

Wendy had just had her second baby and was really unhappy with how her body looked.

She was struggling with her weight, her tummy, her energy, how she felt in herself and just being so busy.

She had some ab separation from her pregnancy so was worried about jumping into an exercise regime that could have done more damage.

She absolutely did the right thing and reached out for some help from us!

It’s really important to work on bringing those abs back together before jumping into core workouts or intense exercise, as this can actually emphasise the abs pulling apart more.

Many mums are desperate to lose weight but forget how much their body has been, plus the risk of injury is much higher.

We started with some safe and specific core exercises, then introduced body weight then resistance exercises.

Over the months we progressed these workouts to make them more challenging to speed up her results but made sure we set short but effective workouts to build up strength, muscle and improve her metabolism.

We set step goals that we’re manageable which helped her mentally and with her motivation/calorie burn.

Her nutrition was pretty high in carbs, low in protein & calories which were making it hard for her to lose weight so we worked on this together.

Her energy was low as she wasn’t getting the fuel she needed ontop of exhaustion.

We slowly built up her calorie intake, helped with food swaps, increased her protein and generally set some better habits which have really helped her!

A lot has changed for Wendy.

Hayley is a busy working mum.

Since becoming a mum, she found it increasingly difficult to work on her own fitness goals due to having very little time and not knowing how to effectively train from home.

She was an active gym-goer before having her son but wasn’t able to get back into the gym and get back to the routine she used to have.

This left her feeling frustrated and a little hopeless she was ever going to lose her baby weight or feel happy in her skin again.

This is such a struggle many mums have as they feel that they are no longer a priority, but actually you are just as important as your family!

Hayley made the decision that she no longer wanted feel unhappy in her skin so reached out to us to help.

As a mum myself, having my own journey and experience plus helping tons of mums rebuild their confidence and fitness, I was able to understand her struggles and make changes to her lifestyle that were manageable.

We ran an audit on her current diet and fitness regime, then together we worked on specific areas to improve her diet, metabolism, and created a tailored workout plan that fitted around her busy lifestyle.

We focused on increasing her protein intake, making healthier food choices, and optimising her overall calorie intake.

I think we’ve all been there at some point where we jump on that scale and whatever the number may be, can totally define our mood for the rest of the day or how well we think we have done this week!

Well, many of us know WHY the scales fluctuate which is great but you really need to know HOW obsessing over the number actually HINDERS your progress.

The scale is a key tool in tracking progress but over-reliance on it can be harmful

✨ Mental and Emotional Health

The number on the scale can easily become a source of stress, anxiety, and negative self-judgment.

This is detrimental to our mental and emotional well-being.

An unhealthy mental state can lead to harmful behaviors such as extreme dieting, overexercising, or emotional eating.

✨ Misrepresentation of Progress

As I've mentioned before the scale doesn't differentiate between fat, muscle, and water.

If you're strength training, for instance, you might be losing fat while gaining muscle, which could result in the scale staying the same or even increasing.

This can falsely make you feel like you're not making progress.

✨ Ignores Body Composition

Fat loss and muscle gain can significantly change your body shape, even if your weight doesn't change much.

By focusing only on the scale, you can overlook positive changes in body composition and resort to old habits as an emotional response.

✨ Promotes a 'Quick Fix' Mindset

Obsession with the scale often leads to a desire for rapid weight loss.

But rapid weight loss isn't sustainable and can even harm your metabolism and overall health.

You’ll end up living on a diet and going back to old ways.

✨ Overlooks Overall Health

Health isn't just about weight.

It also involves cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, flexibility, mental health, energy levels and many other factors.

By fixating on the scale, you can overlook these other crucial elements that you could have made huge amounts of progress in!

Shifting our focus from a singular, sometimes misleading number to a holistic view of health and fitness is key.

So next time you want to throw the towel in after a week of hard work without the scale weight changing, think twice as you’ll likely be taking your self a step backwards without even knowing it! ✨

In the whirlwind of motherhood, it's easy to forget ourselves.

It’s easy to become the last priority and looking after ourselves becomes an afterthought.

Sometimes we can even feel guilty wanting to look after ourselves more!

This absolutely shouldn’t be the case…

I most definitely have these struggles and these recent weeks have noticed that burnt out feeling come creeping back in.

I’ve noticed, I’ve been sleeping less, working out less, working more, looking after everyone else more and doing less for me…

I am here to remind you, amazing mums out there, that self-care isn't selfish - it's essential!!!

Between the nappies, feedings, sleepless nights, homework, school runs, weekend football, remember to fit in a bit of 'you' time.

A healthy mum is a strong mum, a happy mum, and an inspiring example for our little ones.

When we are happier and healthier, we are better equipped to be the mums we aspire to be.

We have more energy to play, patience to guide, and resilience to overcome challenges.

We're not just shaping our own lives but also those tiny souls who look up to us.

Every healthy choice, every workout session, every balanced meal we enjoy isn't just about us - it's about the healthy habits we pass onto them.

Maintaining our health and fitness isn't just to get in those pre-baby jeans (although they are a nice perk 😅).

It's about giving ourselves the energy, strength, and longevity to be there for our babies as they grow.

So mummies, next time you you realise you’re burnt out and tired, remind yourself why that might be and it’s time to start looking after you that little bit more!

Do you battle with yo-yo dieting or overly restricting your food?

Are you desperate to lose weight but can’t seem to get to where you want to be?

So did Abi.

Abi came to us feeling low in confidence, struggled with how she felt in her skin and felt a little hopeless she’d ever be able to reach her goals or feel amazing on her wedding day.

As she would rely on majorly restricting her calories and doing HIIT workouts she would fall off track quickly and regain the weight she lost.
