“This is my horse Timmy, He is a 16 year old 15.2 Connemara.

Timmy had shown a laminitis episode so I decided to look at alternatives to traditional shoeing and my farrier suggested we try Glushu. On 30th January he received his first set of Glushu fronts only. On 10th March for his second shoeing cycle we fitted him all round.

Timmy is in full work 5 days a week. At the end of April we are getting ready to go on a long distance ride across Lambourn. The Farrier is coming the day we leave so they are fresh on.

He is sound and enjoying his Glushu.“

“This Keratoma removal is on a donkey. This was definitely the smallest foot I’ve ever resected. I chose a Glushu size 9.5 which you’ll see is equivalent to a 4x0. You’ll see in these images it’s a very small shoe.

I chose this shoe for a no impact application. Also, being that if you resection size changes, the shoe cuff is easily removable for a larger resection window.

I added soft impression material for hoof capsule stability. I also applied a hospital treatment plate for extra protection. I always support my foot before any type of resection’s.

Using this style cuff Glushu shoe makes it really easy and very durable. These feet can be soaked, and the resection can be cleaned multiple times throughout the rotation without the integrity of the foot being lost.”

“Here are a few notes on a recent client who was a perfect candidate for Glushu.

The MRI report mentioned an uneven contour of the lateral collateral fossa at the coffin bone with sclerotic bone remodelling reactions LF. Not an uncommon diagnosis by the way. Ok, so what does a farrier do? Supporting the lateral side of that left front a bit more, is definitely a good idea. But how? And how much? If my experience counts for anything: do not over do it!

We started out with an aluminium wide webbed shoe, that seemed to improve the horse's well being a lot. So much it managed to pull its shoes, a lot. We all know, no matter how effective a shoeing package may be, when it's not under a foot, but somewhere around it, it doesn't help the horse one bit. I switched to a glue on shoe, Glushus. They clearly hold better, compared to nailed on shoes. But then the modification. I needed a wider web on that LF. Polyurethane to the rescue! Glue-U's Shufix allows you to simply add material where you want it. Literally done in seconds.

For those who wonder what the effect of the widened lateral branch is and how long it lasts, look at the sole view of that GluShu after 6 weeks and consider the wear pattern. .”
