Your 40s can feel tough.

The weight creeps on.Your energy drops.Life gets busier. And somehow, everyone else’s needs come before your own.

Sometimes you feel like ⬇️

You can gain weight just looking at a slice of cake.

You wake up tired despite getting a full night’s sleep.

Your hormones seem to have a mind of their own

You’re juggling work, ageing parents, teenage children, relationships, finances, and the endless pressure of being everything to everyone.

It’s no wonder so many people in their 40s start to wonder

Is this it ?? 🤯🤯

I remember speaking to a client who said, “I don’t even recognise myself anymore.”

She wasn’t unhappy.

She wasn’t depressed.

She was simply exhausted from spending years looking after everyone else and putting herself at the bottom of the list.

Sound familiar?

The thing is, your 40s aren’t supposed to feel like survival mode.

And contrary to what social media tells you, you don’t need to look 25 to feel incredible.

What you need is to start putting yourself back on your own priority list.

Because here’s what I’ve noticed about women in their 40s…

They’re stronger than they realise 💪🏽💪🏽

They’ve survived heartbreak, setbacks, disappointments, failures, grief, and challenges that would have overwhelmed their younger selves.

They’ve built resilience .. They’ve gained wisdom.

And they’ve stopped caring quite so much about fitting in

It’s time to take back control ⬇️⬇️

Why Body Pump Isn’t Changing Your Shape 😬

Before the Body Pump fans come for me… hear me out. 👀

If you’ve been faithfully attending Body Pump for years and wondering why your body shape hasn’t changed much…

It’s not because you’re not working hard enough.

It’s because your body got the memo years ago. 📩

Doing the same weights.
The same reps.
To the same playlist.
Every week.

Your muscles are basically saying:

“Thanks Karen, but we’ve already adapted to this in 2019.” 😂

To change your shape, especially in midlife, your muscles need a reason to grow.

That means:
💪 Progressively lifting heavier
💪 Challenging your muscles
💪 Eating enough protein
💪 Recovering well

Body Pump can be great for fitness, confidence and getting you moving.

But if your goal is to build muscle, create shape, and support changing hormones, you may need more than a barbell and 800 squats to a remix of a 90s classic. 🎵😅

At KM coaching we focus on strength training that helps women build muscle, support their hormones, and feel stronger for life.

Because surviving 1,000 pulses isn’t the same as building muscle. 😉

But I like to feel like I’ve really sweated by ass off 😩🙄

Cool but sweating and changing your physique are NOT the same thing

THIS IS ME 12 YEARS APART…

1️⃣cardio obsessed via 2️⃣= strong mum

Just to clarify your weight / shape does not define you 👌🏽

but when you’re struggle to reach you’re goals and you think you’re doing everything you can then sometimes the strategy needs to change

When I switched to weight training I felt like I was starting from scratch ( and I kind of was )

All the cardio had left me with very little muscle and a shape I still wasn’t happy with ( despite slogging my guts out everyday)

Then there was the development with having a bad relationship with food .. YEP on it off it …. BINGE! That was me

So here’s the tea on the difference between cardio and weight training ⬇️⬇️

People confuse “burning calories” with “building a physique.” They are completely different goals.

🏃🏽‍♀️Cardio is amazing for heart health, endurance, fitness, and overall health

🏋🏽‍♂️But resistance training is what actually sculpts your body:• builds curves• creates definition• tightens areas• improves posture• increases metabolism• gives that “fit” look people want

You do NOT need to destroy yourself with sweat every session to get results.

You need progressive overload, consistency, recovery, and muscle stimulus.

Train for the body you want ….. not just for the sweat

MIDLIFE FITNESS: Should you focus on losing weight or building muscle? 💪✨

A lot of women in midlife think the goal is just to lose weight… but the real game-changer is often building muscle

Really you need to stop focussing on the scales , it’s one tiny part of the puzzle

🔥 muscle matters in midlife ⬇️

✔ Boosts metabolism (helps you burn more calories at rest)
✔ Supports hormone balance
✔ Protects bones & joints
✔ Improves strength, energy & confidence
✔ Helps prevent age-related muscle loss

⚖ Weight loss alone isn’t the answer
If you only focus on the scale, you may lose muscle too ! This can slow metabolism and make it harder to maintain result

💡 The smarter goa ⬇️

Build muscle + lose excess body fat
This creates a stronger, healthier body (not just a smaller one)

Focus on ⬇️

🏋️ Strength training 2–4x/week
🥚 Prioritizing protein
🚶 Daily movement
😴 Recovery & sleep
🍎 Eating to nourish, not starve

In midlife, don’t just chase weight loss we chase strength.

There comes a point in midlife when you barely recognise yourself…

You’re tired even when you’ve slept.
Your energy feels low.
Your body feels different.
What used to work… doesn’t anymore.

And somewhere along the way, you’ve put yourself at the bottom of the list.

I get it because so many women I work with start exactly there.

But midlife isn’t the end of feeling strong, confident, and like you again.

It’s the moment you decide you’ve had enough… and take control.

Not through extremes.
Not through punishment.
But by rebuilding your strength, your confidence, and your energy in a way that fits this season of life.

Midlife can feel hard , but you do not have to stay stuck there.

If you’re ready to feel stronger, healthier, and back in control… DM me COMMIT today 💪✨

You waited all that time for the guy to change… you can hold that lunge a little longer 🤣💀

Because here’s the thing ladies ….. your muscles don’t count reps, they respond to tension and effort 👀🔥

That shaky “I’m about to fall over” feeling?

That’s your quads, glutes, and stabilisers working overtime , building strength, endurance, and balance without even moving! Hoe cool is that

So while you’re waiting about … your legs could already be putting in the work instead of just your patience 🤣🔥

You might not realise this

But the things that hold you back are all in your head or they are easy fixed ⬇️⬇️

💭 You don’t prioritize yourself

You give your time, energy, and attention to everyone else first , then wonder why you feel drained, inconsistent, or stuck. If you’re always at the bottom of your own list, your goals will stay there too.

🍰 You think cake is “bad”

One slice of cake doesn’t ruin progress.
The all-or-nothing mindset does. When you stop labeling foods as “good” or “bad,” you build balance, consistency, and a healthier relationship with food.

🏃‍♀️ You think you don’t enjoy exercise

You probably just haven’t found a type of movement you actually like yet.Exercise doesn’t have to mean forcing yourself through workouts you hate. The best workout is the one you’ll actually stick to.

📅 One bad day makes you think you’ve ruined the whole week

You miss one workout, eat one takeaway, or have one stressful day —and suddenly you convince yourself everything is off track. Progress isn’t built by being perfect. It’s built by getting back on track quickly.

What a time of it ……BUT STILL SMILING 🥰

The last few weeks have been challenging to say the least. Lots going on in life

There lots of good 👌🏽 and there’s a significant amount of stress too 🤨

So I just wanted to point out something that I think Is super important

Esp if you have a lot going on too …..

💗 You don’t need to be at 100% to show up. Give what you can! consistency beats perfection

💗 Bad days don’t erase progress. One off-track meal, missed workout, or low-energy day / week doesn’t undo your work.

💗 Focus on the basics: sleep, hydration, movement, and nutrition. Keep it simple when life feels complicated.

💗 It’s okay to slow down but don’t stop completely. Even a short walk or quick session counts.

💗 Your mental health matters just as much as your physical results. Take care of both.

💗 Discipline isn’t about being hard on yourself, it’s about having your own back, especially on tough days.

💗 Progress during hard times looks different and that’s okay.

You’re not expected to be perfect. You’re expected to keep going.

Take it one day at a time. You’ve handled tough moments before you can handle this too. 💗
