Can I do Reformer Pilates if I have disc issues in my back?” 👀

We get asked this ALL the time in the studio and the answer is often YES! 🙌

Reformer Pilates can be a brilliant way to get your body moving because it’s low impact, controlled and adaptable to you.

✨ It can help you strengthen the muscles that support your spine
✨ Build core strength and stability
✨ Improve mobility and posture
✨ Move with more control and confidence
✨ And the reformer can be adjusted to suit your individual needs

Having a back or disc issue doesn’t automatically mean you have to stop moving. In many cases, the right kind of movement can be an important part of getting stronger and feeling more confident in your body. 🤍

Every back is different, though, if you have an injury, ongoing pain or a diagnosed spinal condition, always get appropriate medical/physio advice first and let your instructor know before class.

Save this for later or send it to someone who keeps saying, “I’d love to try Pilates, but my back…” 👀

Your arms are reaching. Your shoulders have decided to come along for the ride.

You know the moment on the Reformer: you’re doing arm work, extending beautifully… and suddenly your shoulders are creeping towards your ears.

We’re going to ask you to bring them back down and there’s a reason.

When the shoulders hike up, your upper traps can start doing more of the job than we actually intended.

You can also lose some of that lovely control around the shoulder blade and ribcage.

Instead, think: reach the arms LONG, not the shoulders UP.

We want length through the arms while your shoulder blades stay organised against your ribcage so the movement feels controlled, connected and purposeful rather than like you’re wrestling the springs. 😅

And no, “shoulders down” doesn’t mean aggressively pinning them down either.

That’s the Pilates magic: control without unnecessary tension.

Next time you’re reaching, ask yourself: are my arms getting longer… or are my shoulders just getting higher? 👀

Save this one for your next Reformer class in Cheltenham. 🤍

Constantly on the treadmill but not seeing the changes you want in your body? 👀

More cardio isn’t always the answer.

If you want to feel stronger, more defined and more connected to your body, Reformer Pilates could be the missing piece.

Using spring resistance, we challenge your muscles through controlled, intentional movement, building strength, improving posture and targeting your core, glutes, legs and upper body.

And here’s our Pilates opinion: a workout doesn’t need to leave you exhausted to be effective.

You don’t have to ditch the treadmill.

But if cardio is ALL you’re doing, your body may need a different stimulus, not simply more miles.

Ready to try something different? 🤍

How Pilates Can Help Flatten & Strengthen Your Tummy After Pregnancy ✨

Pregnancy changes your core and rebuilding it is about so much more than doing endless crunches.

Pilates can help you reconnect with your deep abdominal muscles, strengthen your pelvic floor, improve posture and gradually create a stronger, firmer and more supported tummy. 🤍

Reformer Pilates is especially effective because the controlled resistance allows you to work your core with precision while building strength throughout your whole body.

The focus is on:
✨ Deep core activation
✨ Pelvic floor strength
✨ Improved posture & alignment
✨ Rebuilding abdominal strength
✨ Creating a stronger, more toned waistline
✨ Helping you feel confident in your body again

Postnatal recovery takes time, and every body is different. If you have abdominal separation (diastasis recti), pelvic-floor symptoms, pain, or you’ve recently given birth, get appropriate medical or pelvic-health guidance before starting or progressing exercise.

Noelia’s journey continues 🤍

After experiencing PPPV, she’s been working on reconnecting with her body and, importantly, learning to trust it again.

PPPV can bring symptoms such as persistent dizziness, feeling unsteady or off balance, a rocking or swaying sensation, sensitivity to movement and busy environments, and feeling less confident in your body because you’re never quite sure when those sensations might appear.

Through her Pilates practice, Noelia is feeling stronger and more connected to her body.
And when symptoms do show up, instead of immediately worrying about them, she’s learning to lean into the feeling, stay calm and use gentle movement and the right tools to work through it.

It’s not about everything suddenly disappearing. It’s about building strength, confidence and trust in what her body can do.

A really lovely reminder of just how powerful that mind-body connection can be. ✨
