80 years of Finnish Landscape Architecture //
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Suomen Maisema-arkkitehtiliitto MARK – The Finnish Association of Landscape Architects. To celebrate this milestone, MARK is hosting a seminar, Changing Landscapes – Time and Ideals.
The event takes place on October 2 and is divided into two seminar sessions.
The first session examines the development of landscape architecture in Finland, highlighting how perceptions of the profession have changed over the years and continue to evolve.
Malin Blomqvist will be a keynote speaker at the morning session, and through her own work she will reflect on current Finnish and Nordic landscape architecture, as well as differences and similarities when working in different Nordic countries.
Other keynote speakers for the morning session are academician Mona Schalin, Jussi Luomanen from City of Helsinki, and Ria Ruokonen of ARCO Architecture Company.
The morning session ends with a panel discussion featuring Finnish landscape architects, and is moderated by Elisa Lähde, Associate Professor, Aalto University, and Jouni Heinänen, City of Helsinki.
The second session focuses on the present and the future, with keynote speeches from Prof. Dr. Lisa Diedrich of TU Berlin, Peter Veenstra of LOLA Landscape Architects, and Bjørn Ginman of SLA.
Elina Kataja, Head of our Helsinki office, will moderate the closing panel discussion.
