Hyrox is on the road to becoming an Olympic Sport.

Hybrid racing is now an official World Triathlon discipline, and HYROX will run its elite championships. Signed today, after a year of negotiation.

Here's what the term sheet actually says. World Triathlon, the federation behind Olympic triathlon, recognizes Hybrid Racing as a discipline and governs it. HYROX becomes the exclusive operator of the official World, Continental and National Championships for elite athletes in the format you already race. National federations in more than 177 countries can stage hybrid racing events, including age group national championships. The full governance and commercial agreement is still being written.

Three formats are planned: Ultimate, which is the existing HYROX race, Fast, a shorter and more intense version, and Ultra, a longer endurance one.

If you have elite ambitions, this is the machinery real sports run on. A recognized discipline, a federation of national bodies, official championships, and both organizations say the goal is Multi-Sport Games first, then the Olympic and Paralympic Games. HYROX's CEO says the sport "is officially on the road to the Olympics."

If you race for the Saturday, nothing changes. HYROX says mass participation events are unaffected, and Olympic inclusion is an ambition, not a decision. No Games has added the sport and the IOC hasn't ruled on it. Plenty of sports have spent decades on that road.

Would a national team pathway change how you train, or are you in it for the Saturday race?

What an epic Spartan DEKA we hosted a Strong and a mile. Thank you Brian Townsend | DEKA Affiliate Sales & Community Manager Crystal Dawn Wasney and family for the support. To get this kind of support from the Spartan Canada crew helped make this event what it was. We will for sure be hosting another strong over the indoor season.
