“Timing beats speed. Accuracy beats power.”

Everybody wants to hit hard. Everybody wants to be fast. And with enough practice, most people can improve both. But what good is a punch that never lands?

In boxing, timing and accuracy sit at the top of the hierarchy. A perfectly timed, accurate punch will almost always outperform a faster punch thrown at the wrong moment or a harder punch that misses its target.

WSBC is very proud to welcome Canadian Olympic Heavyweight Mark Simmons to our little club for a boxing seminar on Thursday, July 16 @ 18:00. Mark fought in Sydney 2000 and went up against the best in the world throughout the 90's at the Pan-Am and Commonwealth games including the great Félix Savón of Cuba. Mark had one of the deadliest left hooks in the game and will be sharing his knowledge with the Kingston boxing community.

OPEN TO ALL CLUBS. SPACE IS LIMITED. BOOK EARLY.

$50 to attend (includes a signed 8x10) $20 to spectate.

We also found out a little known fact that Joshua got his boxing start here in Kingston. We’re hoping to have him out to host a seminar in the near future. ON THIS DATE in 1988 - Mark Leduc of Kingston beats Howard Grant of Montreal. Grant would shortly thereafter be granted Mark's spot on the 1988 Canadian Olympic team, many suspected this was due to Mark's coloured past. After some deliberation about going pro, Mark would decide to buckle down for another four years of fights to qualify for the 1992 Canadian Olympic team.
