DanceWorks Kenora DanceWorks Kenora aims to provide quality dance instruction, for all ages of dancers, in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Dance has many benefits, including improved strength, coordination, flexibility, and the ability to express yourself through movement. Participation in dance classes also teaches important life skills including commitment, determination and creative thinking. Erin McCuaig

Erin grew up in Kenora and has studied dance for over twenty years. She has trained at a number of studios, including the Roya

l Winnipeg Ballet School in Winnipeg and Free House Dance in Calgary. Her training covers many styles including ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, and tap. After high school Erin attended Wilfrid Laurier University and graduated with her Bachelor of Business Administration. She then moved to Calgary for work before returning home to Kenora in 2014. During her time at the RWB, she did ADAPT Jazz and Tap examinations and Cecchetti ballet exams. Erin was also a member of Ember Dance Company in Calgary in 2012/2013. Erin now looks forward to sharing her love of dance with others in Kenora while continuing to enrich her skills as a dance teacher with workshops and education events.

DWK Ensemble dancers wrapped up the competition season last weekend at Dance Canada in Winnipeg. Congrats dancers on all the progress you made this year! It was great to watch you leave it all on the stage one last time for each of your routines. Plus we loved seeing you supporting and encouraging one another and enjoying the backstage and travel moments together as a team. Those moments are the important ones that will stick with you most.

Spring Dance Classes Start Next Week!
Join us for 5 weeks of spring classes from May 19 through June 19. There are class options for creative movement, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary. This is a great time to try a class and get a sense of what it is like. If your dancer is interested in a new style they can also add a class (or take these weeks to do make-up classes for any previous absences during the year). Register online at danceworkskenora.com

DanceWorks Kenora 2026 Recital
Year 12. 125 dancers (and 4 senior dancers at their final recital). 51 routines. 308 costumes. 4 sold out shows. 30 volunteers. 4 teachers. 16 assistants. 1 exhausted but proud studio owner and instructor.

We appreciate the time and energy it takes to get dancers to the dress rehearsals and performances and hope that you feel, as we do, that the end result is worth the effort. We are so proud of the dancers (and their families) for managing the long days, stress, and excitement. These events are not only a showcase of what the dancers have learned during the year but also provide an opportunity to bring our dance community together in a celebration of the arts.

Thank you dancers for the way you show up to support and inspire one another backstage. Thank you audience for being such amazing supporters to all the dancers and for coming out to appreciate their hard work. Thank you teachers and assistants for the work you’ve put in all year and backstage at events. From the first-time families through to the ones that have been with the studios for years; thanks everyone for being part of it all!

And, to those that volunteered - thank you, thank you, thank you! We could not make these events happen without your help. We really appreciate the care and energy you put into supporting the studio and the dancers. Thank you from Ms. Erin and thank you from the dancers.

Didn't get tickets? Contact the studio to be put on a waitlist. Have tickets you aren't going to use? There may be someone looking to purchase them, don't let them go to waste. Let us know in advance or at the door at showtime.

Catching up on our Spotlight Awards! So much has been happening at the studio that we've gotten a bit behind. Now we're catching up on recognizing our Spotlight Award winners from February through April.

Congrats to these dancers for standing out for things like being a role model, supporting and encouraging fellow dancers, demonstrating an ability to apply corrections, always trying their best, being committed and focused on personal progress, bringing energy and enthusiasm every class, pushing to find another level in their performance quality, and taking initiative as an assistant. These are the skills we learn in dance that will serve us well in all aspects of our life. We love seeing you step up and continuing to push yourselves. Great work!

Our Primary through Senior classes are also ready to take the stage at their matinee and evening performances for the 2026 Recital. Both of those shows are only a few tickets away from being sold out. If you plan to come support the dancers don't wait much longer to get your tickets.

Thanks to Ara and Miri for representing the studio as guest performers at the Elevate Gymnastics Year-End Show this weekend. Thank you Elevate Gymnastics for the invitation to join you again for this event. We appreciate the extra opportunity to perform and to see what the gymnasts and cheerleaders have been working on over the season.
