PUMP OR DUMP? 🏋️‍♂️🗑️

New series.

I’m taking exercises I find online, trying them myself, and deciding whether they’re actually worth adding to your training—or whether they belong in the dump.

First up: Chest-Supported Meadows Row.

Basically a single-arm landmine row performed chest-down on an incline bench.

Why I like it:

✅ Chest support takes your lower body and trunk largely out of the equation
✅ Low systemic fatigue for the amount of back work you can get
✅ Very simple to execute
✅ Makes it harder to turn a row into a full-body heave
✅ Lets you focus on a hard, strict pull and actually load the target musculature

Cons:
Setup 🚫

Nothing revolutionary. Nothing magical.

Just a solid rowing variation that does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

VERDICT: PUMP 💪

What exercise should I test next?

BEAR CRAWL TUG O’ WAR 🐻🔥

Great for: Wrestling, Judo, Bjj, rugby, football, paddling

Simple setup. Brutal little training game.

HOW TO PLAY:
→ 2 athletes start in a 4-point/bear crawl position
→ Heavy resistance band around both athletes’ waists
→ Cone marks the halfway point
→ On GO, both athletes side crawl away from each other
→ First athlete to get dragged across the middle or lose their balance loses

Why use it?

You’re challenging trunk stiffness, shoulder stability, hip control, coordination and full-body force production while the athlete has to maintain position against a constantly changing external force.

Plus, turning it into a competition usually gets a little more effort than saying “3 sets of lateral bear crawls.”

SAVE this one for your next athlete session.

👊 Tag someone you’d challenge to Bear Crawl Tug O’ War.
📲 Share it with a coach who needs more competitive training games.
