A not to be missed opportunity for South Aussie judoka when 9th Dan, and IJF hall of famer, Neil Adam’s, visits Adelaide.

Visiting all the way from the UK, Neil is two time Olympic medalist and an official commentator for Judo at the Olympic Games.

On Sunday we took a young team to the Kodokan event, hosted by Seacliff Judo Club.

It was a great event, with everyone getting match ups against players from different clubs.

Savannah, Yuhe, Luna, Patrick and Hudson all won gold medals, Eddy and Dusty won silver medals, and Arley & Matilda finished in third place!

There was a lot of great throws, but more importantly great listening, supporting each other and great sportsmanship.

Thanks to the event organisers for a great event!

Dusty, Jake, Patrick and Alexis all won gold medal 🥇
Matilda scored a silver medal 🥈 and Savannah won bronze🥉 Ross had three great fights in his first ever comp, throwing each of his opponents. He also was selected as a prize winner, for his great effort 💪

Good work to the team who competed at today’s JSA States.

It was a clean sweep for our juniors, with ChampChamp status reached for Savannah and Jake, both winning two gold medals. Yuhe and Luna also both won gold medals 🥇

In the older divisions, Liam came away with a Gold and two Silver medals, while Calem won himself both a Gold and a Silver medal.

A big congratulations to Jake on his promotion to orange-green belt tonight.

Jake began with us originally as a part of our mini program, and has progressed through the different classes.

His now a competition beast, has won a pile of medals and comes in on Wednesdays to give back and help coach the mini program he once started in.

Over the weekend Calem and Liam competed at the Canberra International Open.

Liam won two fights in the cadets, finishing up in 7th place. No result for Calem unfortunately, but every competition is a great opportunity to pressure test ourselves. Both boys will now take part in a national training camp, before competing next weekend in Sydney.

Congratulations Calem and Liam, both being promoted to blue belt tonight, with a great display of knowledge through a rigorous examination.

Both boys are astounding testimates to what using Judo as a vessel for personal development can do.

It’s no secret that our expectations for gradings are extremely high; we’ve been told many times from outsiders that we are too strict on them. But, when a member earns a new grade they know that nobody can ever question the legitimacy of it.

Every fibre earned with no allowances made, ever.
