Some of you will remember the three huge words on the back wall of the gym- Believe. Work. Conquer.
Recently, I got asked to write a paragraph outlining the meaning behind them and it got me reflecting, as well as realising that I’ve never really spoken about where the words came from, or the real meaning behind them.
Before I launched VidaFit, I spent a lot of time reflecting on the characteristics that had shaped the success I’d experienced in my sporting and business life to that time. I asked myself what were the key characteristics that I consistently leaned on. From that Believe, Work, Conquer was born.
Believe- It all starts here. Believe in yourself, even when doubt screams louder. And if you can’t yet believe in yourself, believe in your purpose, or find a community or a group of people who believe in you, until you do.
Work- Belief alone isn’t enough. You have to put in the work every day, even when there’s no applause. The early mornings, the late nights, the lonely times. Lean into the grind that almost breaks you, because that’s what simultaneously builds you. Growth is found on the other side of those last reps that hurt, doing that session when you don’t feel like it, or showing up for yourself in times that are uncomfortable. Work not just on your physical body, but your mental and emotional body as well. The outcome of what you do consistently, is what you get and ultimately what builds your life.
Conquer- Don’t get conquering confused with trophies or recognition. Conquering is becoming the person you know that deep down you have the potential to be. When belief meets relentless, consistent effort, you don’t just succeed, you conquer.
These words weren’t just a motto to fill space on the back wall, they were the blueprint. They guided my journey to that point in my life, and I hope they can guide yours too.
Happy Friday ✌🏽
