Finally put my medals up today.

Not because they’re medals.

Because each one represents a version of me that showed up when it would’ve been easier not to.

Early mornings.
Long runs.
Doubt.
Nerves.
Blisters.
Growth.

They’re not reminders of the finish lines.

They’re reminders that I can do hard things.

And hopefully they’re a reminder to Isla that she can too. ❤️

I’ve been frustrated with Instagram lately.

I see accounts with thousands of followers, hundreds of likes, and content that looks similar to mine. It’s easy to wonder what I’m doing wrong.

Then I realised something…

I don’t want to be another fitness account.

I want to be me.

The girl who was told she couldn’t run because of severe asthma.

The mum helping her daughter with schoolwork in hospital waiting rooms.

The fitness instructor who still gets nervous before races.

The woman who gets ridiculously excited about camping trips, Christmas, and crossing finish lines.

My page isn’t just about fitness. It’s about life, challenges, family, growth, and showing up even when things aren’t perfect.

It’s my little personal diary of this season of life.

And if even one person reads it and feels inspired, motivated, or a little less alone in their own journey, then I’ve done my job.

So I’m going to stop trying to create “Instagram content” and keep sharing “Hayley content.”

Because nobody else can tell that story. 💜

Years ago, as a child, I was told running wasn’t for me because of severe asthma.

I started with one lap around an oval. Just one at 22 years old.
It’s funny how life works. The things we think will hold us back forever sometimes become the things we’re most proud of.

Training for life, not just race day.

Today I completed the 8km event at the Maitland Running Festival alongside my friend Amanda.

The result I’m most proud of isn’t the placing or the finish time..it’s how I felt.

✅ Ran comfortably
✅ Enjoyed the experience
✅ Finished in 51 minutes
✅ Felt strong enough to keep going

As a trainer, that’s exactly what I encourage my clients to aim for. Fitness isn’t about leaving every session exhausted. It’s about building the strength, endurance, and confidence to enjoy challenges like this and recover well afterwards.

A bonus result was placing in the top third of females and my age group, but the real win was crossing the finish line feeling strong and smiling.

When we exercise, we choose discomfort. We choose to push ourselves, raise our heart rate, and challenge our bodies. It’s hard, but we know we’re becoming stronger because of it.

Life can leave us breathless too—through stress, setbacks, grief, illness, or unexpected challenges. The difference is that we don’t get to choose those moments.

What we can choose is how we prepare for them.

Every run, workout, and difficult thing we do on purpose builds more than fitness. It builds resilience. It teaches us that we can be uncomfortable, keep moving forward, and trust ourselves to get through hard things.

That’s why I love running. Every kilometre is a reminder that I’m capable of more than I think.

Today, I chose to be puffed…so I’m a little stronger when life tries to take my breath away. ❤️🏃‍♀️💨

Want to get more out of your dumbbells without adding more weight? Change your grip! 💪

Changing your grip or hand position throughout a workout can target muscles from different angles, improve joint stability, challenge your grip strength, and help develop more balanced strength. It also keeps your workouts varied and engaging.

✨ Try performing 8–10 reps of each exercise with different grip positions where appropriate, and complete 2 sets of the entire sequence.

The result? More muscle activation, better functional strength, and a fresh challenge…all with the same set of dumbbells. 🔥

Happy Global Running Day. A reminder that I don’t have to run 5km under 30min, I don’t have to finish exhausted, and every run doesn’t have to be a race. Sometimes it’s enough to simply enjoy the run. 🏃‍♀️✨
