Our Binar girl, Sienna Gerardi, the newest recruit at the West Coast Eagles, regularly comes down to support our Binar teams, and tonight was no different.
She was sitting beside me watching the game when I jokingly said, "Do you want to ref? We're down to one ref for this game."
Her instant response was, "Do you need me to?"
Without hesitation, she grabbed a whistle and stepped onto the court to help.
No fuss. No excuses. Just someone willing to step up when the team needed support.
It's a great example of the character and leadership Sienna brings, and why she is such a valued part of the Binar family.
That's the Binar Way. :::

Congratulations to Mechelle Turvey on being awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM).

On behalf of everyone at Binar, we extend our heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.

Your unwavering strength, courage, and commitment to creating positive change have touched countless lives across our community and beyond. Through both the challenges you have faced and the advocacy you continue to lead, you have shown what it means to stand strong for justice, compassion, and hope.

We are incredibly grateful for the support you have shown Binar over the years. Your encouragement of our young people, your belief in community-led change, and your willingness to share your story have helped inspire the next generation to walk with confidence, resilience, and pride.

This honour recognises not only your personal achievements, but also the profound impact you have had on families, communities, and organisations working to create a better future. Your voice has become a powerful force for unity, understanding, and positive action, and your leadership continues to make a difference every day.

At Binar, we deeply appreciate the example you set for our young people. You have shown that even through adversity, it is possible to lead with strength, dignity, and purpose. Your journey reminds us all of the importance of standing up for what is right, supporting one another, and never losing sight of the power of community.

We are proud to celebrate this milestone with you and acknowledge the incredible contribution you have made to Western Australia and the nation.

Congratulations, Mechelle, on receiving the Order of Australia Medal. This recognition is richly deserved, and we thank you for everything you continue to do for our community.
With respect, gratitude, and admiration,
The Binar Family

Leadership doesn’t only happen on the basketball court.

Our Emerging Leaders came together last night for dinner, conversation and a walk through the Swan View Tunnel. These regular catch-ups are all about building connections, supporting one another and developing the next generation of leaders within Binar.

What makes this program special is that our current young leaders are helping guide and mentor those coming through behind them, creating a leadership journey that continues to grow with every new participant.

Strong leaders. Strong community. Strong future.

Back in the April school holidays, our Binar WABL teams headed down to Albany for a 4 night camp packed with basketball, team bonding and plenty of good memories. πŸ€

While in Albany, our teams competed in the Great Southern Basketball Tournament at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre, trained together throughout the week and took part in team building activities and a movie night.

We also ran free basketball clinics on the Sunday morning and delivered our Binar Health Embassy alongside the tournament.

Most importantly, it was a great opportunity for our players to spend time together off the court, build stronger connections and enjoy the experience as a group.

Big few days, lots of basketball and plenty of fun had by everyone involved. ❀️
