Normally I starty day with my fitness. Today however, I chose to sleep in an extra 45 minutes & opted to do my exercise as the end of the day.

Although I am normally waking as I peddle on my exercise bike, I certainly finish off feeling my accomplished & refreshed than what I do at the end of the day.

Oh well, it'd now done & I have maintained my daily fitness goal.

Getting back into the swing of things.

Post client workout session.

This is the 2nd week of having a client return twice a week.

Both of us are benefiting from the slightly easier transition into workouts again.

Keeping things simple this morning using bands for my workout this.morning.

Resistance bands are underestimated in their ability in providing an effective workout. They are also perfect for taking on holidays as they take up very little room.

Most exercises can be adapted to incorporate bands instead of using weights, and are a perfect piece of equipment when getting started on your fitness journey, or to use during recovery and rehabilitation. Bands are also a much cheaper alternative to start with.

One more week before I can start a strength regime, under the watchful eye of my physio, of course.

Although I have been impatient with the process, I have, in the latter part of my recover, adhered to the advice of my physio, and resting my knee as much as possible.

I have refrained from as much non-essential weight bearing & walking as possible, instead opting to supporting muscles, in preparation for when I am able to regain full function.

While I like my solitude at times, since being off work for recovery, I have a new found appreciation for the benefits of daily social contact....connection to others is something many of us take for granted...myself included.

Loved working on my core this morning.

I woke up feeling more than a little average - maybe the weather, maybe having to rest so much & not move as much as I normally would, or it maybe 'just one of those days'.

I went back to bed for an hour & then decided to 'show up'.

So glad I made the effort...physio exercises, 15 min bike ride & my core exercises mean > feel so much better than I did.

Sometimes, just pushing through, or staying committed to the routine is enough to get you out of that slump & help reset yourself, no matter what is going on.

Am I starting to get frustrated with the limitations of my exercise? Absolutely!!
I have complained to many people about the lack of exercises I'm allowed to do as my knee recovers...even to my physio.
When I was told walking and standing were the contributors to the fluid build up in my knee, I wanted to scream & I'll admit to my mood becoming negative.
After spending the last week predominantly resting with my leg elevated, I realised how far I'd come - the constant pain has gone, my leg is straight, I have seen progress in the flexion & extension of my knee, & aesthetically, my leg is straighter.
I have 2 weeks left of limited exercises & 'taking it easy', then it's on to a strength regime, and even that will be progressive.

As will all progress & growth, taking time to remember where you started & how far you've come, is important in healing & in promoting further growth.

After 15 mins on the exercise bike, I managed to muster up the enthusiasm I was lacking this morning to complete my arm ...

After 15 mins on the exercise bike, I managed to muster up the enthusiasm I was lacking this morning to complete my arm workout.

Twelve reps of each exercise for 4 rounds, finished with another 15 mins on the exercise bike.

Sometimes, by just making the commitment to show up, and to go through the motion, you gain new found motivation and enthusiasm to complete what is required.

After it being suggested that I stay off of my knee as much as possible (including standing for periods of time), I had to go back to basics & remain seated as much as possible.

Between each round, I spent 3 minutes on the exercise bike....keeping the knee moving, without being put under too much pressure.

Out and about early....fitting in an early morning arm workout was still possible.A benefit to morning workouts, besides...

Out and about early....fitting in an early morning arm workout was still possible.

A benefit to morning workouts, besides starting the day off right, is the fact that I can get on with my day, without having to find time for a workout later, when I need to be available for others.
