🏀 MEET THE COACH | James Murace

For James, coaching is about giving back.

What started as teaching his daughters the game he loves soon became a passion for helping young people learn, grow and believe in themselves.

When asked who has had the biggest influence on the way he coaches, James didn't hesitate.

"My Dad... he gave a lot to the Midland community, and I want to give back to the community that I was raised in as well."

That commitment is reflected in everything James brings to the court. Through respect, sportsmanship and accountability, he encourages his players to become not only better basketballers, but better people.

As a volunteer coach, James is continuing a legacy of community, investing his time and energy into the next generation and helping create opportunities for young people to thrive.

This week we're shining the spotlight on Lasi Edgar from our Under 20s 1 squad.

A proud member of the Binar family for the past three years, Lasi's journey is a great reminder of what Binar is all about: building connections, growing as people, and supporting one another on and off the court.

One lesson he's taken from basketball?

"Don't linger on failure. Learn from it and move on."

A mindset that's helped him both on the court and in life.

We're proud to have watched Lasi grow not only as a basketballer, but as a young leader and role model in our community. His journey is a reminder that the lessons learned through sport can help shape the person you become beyond the game.

Congratulations to two of our recent Green Shirt domestic competition referees, Leonardo Clampett and Suniesha Couzins, on making their WABL umpiring debut today under the guidance and mentoring of our referee coach, Taimania Jones.
With several late WABL referee withdrawals due to illness, both Leonardo and Suniesha stepped up to the challenge at short notice and did an outstanding job.
Your willingness to put your hand up when needed and represent Binar with confidence and professionalism is something to be proud of.
Congratulations to you both – a fantastic achievement and the first of many WABL games to come! 🏀👏💙🖤

After featuring Caleb last week, this week we're meeting one of the people who helped shape his basketball journey...

🏀 MEET THE COACH | Jason Power

With 15 years of coaching experience across domestic, WABL and State basketball, Jason brings a wealth of knowledge to our U20 Boys program.

But coaching is about much more than experience. It's about helping young people grow, building confidence, creating opportunities and leaving a positive impact that extends beyond the basketball court.

As a volunteer coach, Jason dedicates countless hours to supporting the next generation of players. From training nights and game days to mentoring athletes through their basketball journey, his commitment helps make Binar what it is today.

This week we're getting to know the person behind the whistle, from his favourite coaching memories to the values he hopes every player carries with them long after their playing days are over.
