It's World Food Safety Day π
π‘ Did you know?
Perishable foods, such as meat π₯©, poultry, seafood, dairy π§, cooked rice π, pasta and prepared salads, should not be left out for long periods.
As a general guide, food that has been out of refrigeration for less than 2 hours can usually be refrigerated or used straight away. If it has been out for 2 to 4 hours, it should be used immediately. After 4 hours, it should be thrown out.
This is known as the 2-hour / 4-hour rule, and it helps reduce the risk of bacteria growing in food kept between 5Β°C and 60Β°C.
World Food Safety Day is a great reminder: when in doubt, throw it out.
