Significant Announcement
At our recent AGM, Michael Bennett was nominated for Life Membership of the Launceston Cricket Club.
Michael has been associated with the Lions for several decades as a player and volunteer, demonstrating unwavering commitment, loyalty and dedication throughout his involvement. Over this extended period, he has been a valued contributor to the Club's playing ranks, culminating in captaining a 4th Grade Premiership, and an important part of its culture and success.
Michael has played over 150 matches for the club, played in 7 premierships, scored over 1,800 runs, took 161 catches, made 41 stumpings and took one wicket!
While Michael's early involvement was primarily as a player, in more recent years he has significantly expanded his contribution through extensive service to the Launceston Cricket Club beyond his playing role. He has consistently volunteered his time and energy to support club operations and activities, undertaking a wide range of tasks and responsibilities that have strengthened the Lions and assisted its ongoing development, including serving on the club’s committee and assisting with catering for national championships, serving in the bar on match days, and cooking the odd basket of chips in the canteen!
Michael's willingness to contribute wherever required, combined with his long-standing commitment to the club, exemplifies the qualities recognised through the awarding of Life Membership. His contribution has been substantial, sustained and made in the best interests of the Launceston Cricket Club and its members.
In recognition of his many years of dedicated service and contribution, we are delighted to welcome Michael Bennett as a Life Member of the Launceston Cricket Club.
Michael joins his mother, Cynthia, and brother, Richard, as Life Members.
