If you are in Queensland this winter the Jewell of the Gemfields is a must see! While you're there, try your luck fossicking in one of the largest sapphires deposits in the world!
The Central Queensland Gemfields also hold Australia's largest congregation of public fossicking areas with around 900 square kilometres of free access with a Queensland fossicking licence.

A great place to escape for the winter and support a wonderful community!

If you're thinking of something to do this long weekend, head on down to Glenorchy (Elwick Racecourse) for the The Lapidary Club of Tasmania Inc. annual Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show. Opening Saturday 12pm & Sunday 9am... A great event not to be missed!!

Road trip this weekend !!! Supporting our friends from the South with their annual Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show at the Elwick Racecourse... All your favourite traders will be there! Rocks, minerals, fossils, opals, gold, gemstones, jewellery, carvings, spheres & towers, just to name a few! Opens at 12pm on Saturday & 9am Sunday - big shout out to John McLeod and the Lapidary Club of Tasmania for organising such a stellar event !! See you there!!

Finally we would like to thank Lynne, Ben and the whole team at the Elphin Sports Centre for hosting us this weekend!

We could not be more thankful for the friendly atmosphere their team has provided over the last 4 years of the LGMS.

One great way to support the Centre and also help keep our beautiful town clean is to recycle all your unwanted cans, bottles and cartons at your nearest Recycle Rewards station and use this barcode to directly donate to the Elphin Sports Centre.

Thank you everyone for supporting the 2025 Launceston Gem and Mineral Show - record crowds over the two day event showcasing rocks, minerals, opals, gemstones, jewellery, fossils and so much more.
This year's recipients of the Best Exhibit - Bruce Whittaker & Amanda Williams with their trade tables offering rock & mineral specimens, many of them from the mainland & many of them self collected. Bruce & Amanda are great supporters of the show and we look forward to them trading in 2026

We have mineral talks starting at 11am in the upstairs mezzanine and today only we have the Civil Contractors Federation - Tasmania simulator van! Come and test out your skills and have a bit of fun on the way into the show.
