Our qualifying finals delivered everything we love about football — tight contests, big second halves, upsets and plenty of excitement. Now, our Grand Final match-ups are locked in!

⚽️ Friday night kicked things off with Griffith City FC taking on Yoogali FC in the O35s. City came away with a 3–1 win and will now meet Hanwood FC in the Grand Final.

Saturday belonged to the juniors — and there was plenty of action!

⚽ U13/14 Girls
Hanwood FC 12.2G and Yoogali SC 14.1G went into half-time locked at 0–0, before Yoogali found another gear in the second half to take a 4–1 win. They’ll now face Hanwood FC 14.2G in the Grand Final.

⚽ U10/11 Girls
Yoogali SC 11.1G took the lead against Griffith City FC 11.2G in the 19th minute and added another in the 47th to seal the win. Next stop: a Grand Final showdown with Hanwood FC 11.3G.

⚽ U12 Mixed
This one was tight! Yoogali SC 12.1 and Leeton United FC 12.1 couldn’t be separated in the first half, with both sides defending strongly. A 40th-minute goal proved the difference, sending Yoogali through to meet Hanwood FC 12.1.

⚽ U14 Mixed
Hanwood FC 13.1 and Griffith City FC 14.1 battled through a scoreless first half before City kicked things up a notch after the break. Two quick goals were enough to book their place in the Grand Final against Hanwood FC 14.1.

🔥 All Age Men
What a way to finish the qualifying finals!

Minor Premiers Yoogali SC AAM1 came up against a determined Yenda Tigers SC, who wasted no time making their intentions clear with goals in the 15th and 17th minutes.

Yoogali had work to do after the break, but Yenda kept the pressure on, adding goals in the 68th and 80th minutes to secure an impressive 4–0 victory.

Yenda are through and will face Yoogali SC AAM2 for the title!

2026 JUNIOR PLAYERS OF THE YEAR 🏆

A huge congratulations to our 2026 Griffith & District Football Association Junior Players of the Year! 👏⚽

Throughout the season, referees from the Griffith & District Soccer Referees Association select their Player of the Match after each game, recognising players who stand out through their performance on the field.

Those votes accumulate across the season, making these awards a fantastic recognition of the players who have consistently impressed our referees week after week.

This Saturday, 5 September, we’re wrapping up our junior non-competitive season with the GDFA Special Awards and Junior Presentation Day!

It’s been a season of first kicks, big goals, new skills, new friendships, muddy boots and LOTS of Saturday morning fun. Now it’s time to celebrate our youngest footballers and everyone who has helped make their season possible!

⭐ 8:30 am | GDFA Special Awards Presentation and Minor Premiers
🏅 9:45 am | U5s + U6/7G who played at 9:00 am
🏅 10:00 am | U8/9G, U8, U9 + U10/11 who played at 9:00 am
🏅 10:45 am | U6 + U7 who played at 10:00 am
🏅 11:00 am | U8/9G, U8, U9 + U10/11 who played at 10:00 am
🏅 11:30 am | U9 scheduled to play at 12:00 pm
🏅 12:00 pm | U8, U9 + U10/11 who played at 11:00 am

👉 Players: At your scheduled presentation time, please head with your coach to the grassed area outside the canteen to receive your medal. Coaches, please come and check in with Naomi or Marissa before taking your place with your team.

🌭🧃 And there’s a feed waiting! Every junior player can grab a FREE sausage sandwich and juice after their presentation.

For parents and spectators, sausage sandwiches and drinks will also be available to purchase, and this Saturday they’re about much more than filling hungry bellies. All profits will go towards supporting the Royel family, whose daughter is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia.

They are part of our football community, so we’d love to see our football family get behind them. Grab a sausage, buy a drink and help us support one of our own.

With lots of excited little footballers to get through, we also ask everyone to please be patient if presentations run a little behind schedule. We’ll do our best to keep everything moving!

NOT ALL FOOTBALL IS ABOUT THE LADDER!

Sometimes it’s about providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for players to come together, maintain a little fitness, enjoy the game and have a whole lot of fun!

And that’s exactly what our Friday night Social Women’s competition is all about. 🙌

Throughout the 2026 season, West Griffith SC and Griffith City FC came together each Friday night, fielding teams of women who simply wanted to get out on the pitch and play.

No ladders. No pressure. Just football, friendship, plenty of laughs… and yeah, okay, maybe a little competitiveness! 😜⚽️

Social football is an important part of our game. It creates opportunities for women who may not want to play competitive football, those returning to the sport, complete beginners, or anyone who simply wants to stay active and be part of a team.

And in 2027, we’d love to see it grow!

We’re encouraging all GDFA clubs to get behind social women’s football and consider fielding a team next season. The more teams we have, the more opportunities we can create for women in our community to get involved in the world game.

A huge congratulations and good luck to four Griffith & District Football Association players who are proudly representing Riverina this week at the NSWPSSA Primary Boys Football Championships! 👏

The boys are competing against representative teams from across NSW at Salamander Bay from Tuesday 1 to Thursday 3 September.

Being selected to represent Riverina at a NSW championship is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud to see four players from our local Griffith competition earning this opportunity.

Enjoy every minute, play hard and soak up the experience.

SENIOR SEMI FINAL RESULTS ⚽️

What a weekend of senior finals football! The action kicked off under lights on Friday night with the O35s before the All Age Men took centre stage on Sunday, with two teams booking their places in the Grand Final! 🏆

⚽ O35s

1 v 2 | Hanwood FC 4–0 Griffith City FC
It was a hotly contested opening 35 minutes, with Hanwood taking a narrow 1–0 lead into half time. They found another gear after the break, eventually running out 4–0 winners.

👏 Hanwood are straight through to the Grand Final, while Griffith City get another chance next Friday night.

3 v 4 | Yoogali FC v West Griffith SC
It was always going to be a tough task for the underdogs, with Wests taking to the field with just 10 players. They battled hard, but Yoogali proved too strong and secured the win.

➡️ Yoogali will now face Griffith City in Friday night’s qualifying final, with a Grand Final spot on the line!

⚽ ALL AGE MEN

3 v 4 | Yenda Tigers SC 4–0 West Griffith SC
Wests made Yenda work for it in the opening half, with the Tigers managing just one goal in the first 45 minutes. Wests created plenty of opportunities of their own but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Yenda eventually broke the game open to finish 4–0 winners and keep their season alive.

➡️ Yenda now progress to next Sunday’s qualifying final.

1 v 2 | Yoogali SC 1 1–2 Yoogali SC 2
Mates off the field certainly didn’t mean mates on it!

Yoogali SC 1 went into the match as favourites, but Yoogali SC 2 had other ideas, coming out firing and finding the net twice. Yoogali SC 1 pulled one back in the 44th minute to make it 2–1 at the break, but neither side could add to the score in the second half.

👏 Yoogali SC 2 take the win and book their ticket straight to the Grand Final!

Yoogali SC 1 aren’t done yet, though. They’ll face Yenda Tigers SC next Sunday for the remaining place in the decider.

Congratulations to Hanwood FC O35s and Yoogali SC 2 AAM on becoming our first Grand Finalists!

JUNIOR SEMI FINALS ROUND 1! WHAT. A. WEEKEND!

Round 1 of the Junior Semi Finals delivered drama, big goals, huge saves, nail-biting finishes and even a SUDDEN DEATH penalty shootout! 😱⚽

The road to the Grand Finals is getting VERY real… 👀🏆

🟢 U10/11G

💥 Hanwood 11.3 def Yoogali 11.1 [2-1]
First-placed Yoogali and second-placed Hanwood went head-to-head in a tight first half, locked at 0-0 at the break.

Then came the second-half fireworks! Hanwood found the net twice in quick succession in the 30th and 31st minutes before Yoogali answered back in the 34th. Both sides defended strongly, but it was Hanwood who held on for the 2-1 win!

🏆 Hanwood 11.3 are GRAND FINAL BOUND!
➡️ Yoogali 11.1 head into the Qualifying Final next weekend.

💥 Griffith City 11.2 def Hanwood 10.3 [1-0]
A nail-biter from start to finish! Griffith City found the only goal of the game in the 30th minute and held firm to secure the win.

➡️ Griffith City now face Hanwood 11.3 in next weekend’s Qualifying Final.

🔵 U12
💥 Hanwood 12.1 def. Yoogali 12.1 [7-0]
A top-of-the-table clash that absolutely lived up to the hype! Hanwood struck early and never looked back, controlling the game to secure the win and punch their ticket straight into the GRAND FINAL!

➡️ Yoogali 12.1 will battle it out in the Qualifying Final next weekend.

💥 Leeton United 12.1 def Griffith City 12.1 [3-0]
Home-ground advantage? You bet! Leeton United came out firing against fourth-placed Griffith City and proved too strong, securing a convincing 3-0 victory.

➡️ Leeton United now go head-to-head with Yoogali 12.1 in the next stage.

🟣 U13/14G
💥 Hanwood 14.2 defHanwood 12.2 [5-2]
A Hanwood v Hanwood showdown between the top two teams — and it was HOT from the opening whistle! Hanwood 14.2 came out firing, racing to a 5-0 lead at half time.

But 12.2 refused to give up, fighting back with goals in the 41st and 64th minutes. 14.2 ultimately held on for a 5-2 win and a spot in the GRAND FINAL!

➡️ Hanwood 12.2 head into the Qualifying Final next weekend.

💥 Yoogali 14.1 def Griffith City 14.1 [3-0]
A battle of third vs fourth — and the defence was on point! Yoogali took a 1-0 lead into half time before finding the net twice more in the 61st and 65th minutes.

A clinical 3-0 victory sends Yoogali 14.1 straight through to the GRAND FINAL!

💥 Hanwood 14.1 def Hanwood 13.1 [1-0]
Another Hanwood top-of-the-table showdown — and what a battle!

Neither side could break the deadlock in the first half, but Hanwood 14.1 finally found the breakthrough in the 67th minute.

That one goal was enough!

🏆 Hanwood 14.1 are GRAND FINAL BOUND!
➡️ Hanwood 13.1 head into the Qualifying Final next weekend.

MATCH OF THE WEEKEND! Griffith City 14.1 def Leeton United 14.1
WHERE. DO. WE. EVEN. START?! This one had absolutely EVERYTHING.

Leeton United struck early with goals in the 6th and 8th minutes, but Griffith City came roaring back after the break with goals in the 43rd and 63rd minutes to level the scores at 2-2!

Extra time couldn’t separate them. So… PENALTY SHOOTOUT 😱

Still level at 3-3, the teams went into SUDDEN DEATH. And then…CITY FOUND THE NET ON THE FIRST SHOT!

A dramatic 4-3 victory for Griffith City!

And honestly… the true MVPs today? THE GOALKEEPERS! 👏

What an incredible contest.
