A great weekend at Clayton Bay Boat Club Inc. for some of our members for the Flying Fifteen State Championships. CBBC never fails to impress with their organisation and hospitality; thanks to all their volunteers both on and off water.
Winds were fresher than forecast on Saturday, resulting in some exhilarating three sail reaches. Sunday saw winds moderating and dropping to near dead calm following the completion of the day’s second race.
Phil Parish and Sam Kovacic of Christies Beach dominated with wins overall and on handicap, and still found time to share tips on and off the water.
Congratulations to GSC/Christies sailor Andy Harris on 2nd place overall, and GSC/GRYC’s Dave and Kelly Steele on 2nd place on handicap and first Silver hull.
The event was billed as the Friendly State Championship and lived up to the name. We’d encourage anyone with a Flying Fifteen sitting idle to come along to the next event.
Well done again Craig Birbeck and team for putting a great weekend together. Thanks to CBBC’s Perry for the photos.

Unfortunately GSC advises that the Junior End of Season Fun Day planned for Sunday 29th of March has been cancelled.
We would like to apologise to those of you who indicated interest, however the small number of RSVP's means we cannot go ahead.

For those sailors who have enjoyed our season and wish to continue training next summer, please stay tuned on Facebook and email for our summer dates - we will return in early October and would love to see our juniors come back for another year!

For those sailors who can't wait until October, GSC holds our Winter Series commencing on Sunday May 3rd, briefing at 12.30 for a 1pm start. Junior sailors and families are welcome to come down and hire a club Opti or Pacer, and participate in afternoon racing with full off-water and on-water support to get you started.
And don't forget the famous Frostbite Series over the June Long Weekend - an event hosted by the Opti Association of South Australia -more information to come. Details here: https://www.optisa.org.au/events/349269

A big thank you to all the juniors and families who made the effort this year, who turned up ready to hit the water on Sunday mornings in spite of sometimes challenging conditions! Great to see the skills and knowledge progressed, and we hope to see you at the club in the future.

A lovely day to end the Summer Season junior training and afternoon club racing. Two divisions were set an afternoon course to a mark downstream of the club then up the river, under the bridge and another mark further along before returning to the club.
Conditions were light to start the race and upstream the leaders were left becalmed and the second division boats caught up on the afternoon breeze.
Congratulations to William Jagger competing his first race in his BIC and to Eloise Dods competing on her first day in an ILCA 4.
Check out the results and photos below.

We are hosting a day of sailing fun from 10 am - 3 pm including an adventure sail, games and a sausage sizzle, all welcome! This will be the end of our summer training season so make the most of the beautiful autumn weather (we hope!) and come down to the club for a fantastic day of fun.
Any questions please contact GSC Junior Co-ordinator Yossi Jagger on 0474 883 809, or Head Instructor Adam Spees on 0437 664 958.
