Social Bowls Sat. 5th Sept

For today’s Triples the high winds and gusts made getting the right line very tricky. Those that achieved this to a slightly better degree than the other competitors were:

Winners: Ray Hurst, Neville Jacobsen and Kevin Willersdorf

Runners Up: Phil Menhennett, David Amber and Peter Hallion

Best Second Game: John Lynch, Les Hughes and Steve Dick

Due to a surplus of food from Friday night’s bowls practice and meal today’s bowlers were treated to a good feed of Chicken schnitzel and chips.

Well done to all the bowlers who came to compete despite the adverse conditions and thank you to all the volunteers for their events and making these events successful.

Social Bowls Wed 2nd Sept.

Two games of pairs were played and the successful teams were:

Winners - John Lynch & Roger Hanson. It must have been a very hard fought game as you can see John is having a micro nap during proceedings.

Runners Up - Lee Perkins & Phil Menhennett. They are made of sterner stuff & appear very pleased with themselves.

Best Second Game - Daniel Krebbekx & Robert Lee.

During the break between the two games hot chips prepared and served by Mark Doley & Jay Perkins were washed down with a mug of hot tea. Amazing how enjoyable the humble chip can be when served during events such as this.

Apologies to the players playing triples on Saturday 29th, particularly those who were amongst the winning teams. The problem was solely caused by oversight.

Winners: Bob Southby, David Amber and I an Daynes.
Runners Up: Geoff Wood, Dave Evans and Michael Trapeznik.
Best Second Game: Neville Jacobsen (absent), Mark Doley and John Anderson.

Saturday 29th Social Bowls - last game for the 2026 Winter Season.

Two games of pairs were contested
Winners: Anne Wood & Mike Gierke
Runners Up: Ray Hurst & Bob Harrison
Best Second Game: Graham Cowling & Scott Mitchell

Peter Hallion supplied the pumpkin over which the Fairy Godmother, alias Andrea Radley, waved her magic wand and turned it into pumpkin soup. Everyone was in awe of Andrea’s powers and greatly appreciated the soup. Rads, the Fairy Godmothers assistant, had a word with Peter H and requested that next time he grows pumpkins he grows them straighter to make them easier to cut.

That rounds up the Winter Social Bowling season made possible by the many volunteers working behind the scenes and front of house. Many thanks to all those people.

Social Bowls Wednesday 26th - last game of this seasons Winter Social Bowls.
Just to make the game more memorable there was a tie for Winner. Hence the Winners & Runners Up prizes were shared between Graham Cowling/Roger Hanson and Rob Kaplan/John Doyle.
The award for Winners of the Losers (no tie) went to Jay Perkins and Dave McCullough.
Congratulations to today’s winners and thank you to the volunteers.
Thank you to all players near and far who came and played in the Wednesday games making the event enjoyable and successful. hope to see you next season.

Tuesday 25th Social Bowls Last game for this Winter season.

After receiving about 35 mm of rain in the last 24 hours conditions were looking dubious for today’s game. However, the Patron Saint of Bowling came to the rescue and acceptable conditions prevailed.

40 players from Victor Harbor, Strathalbyn, Milang and Goolwa played two games of pairs. During the break Mark Doley and Jay Perkins served hot chips, always a crowd pleaser. After the second game the players were treated to hot Donuts from G-Town.

The Winners were: Steve Rose & Geoff Wood with a score of 59+24.
Runners Up were: Phil Shillabeer & Kym Kotz with a score of 57+13
Best Second Game went to Graham Wilson & Paul Horner with a score of 28+7

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to the volunteers for setting up the greens, the kitchen staff, the bar staff and the organisers on the desk.

No Social Bowls next Tuesday

Saturday 22nd Social Bowls

Three bowls triples with two games each of 11 ends.
A good turn out of bowlers keen to play in the spring like weather conditions.
In the break between the two games the players recharged their batteries with a mug of soup and crusty bread.

Winners: Roger Hanson, Ray Hurst & John Doyle
Runners Up: Graham Cowling, Grant Wilson & Malcolm Oxbridge
Best Second Game: Mick Dodds (absent for photo), Steve Dick & Ian Daynes

It was a very pleasant day of bowling and catching up with fellow bowlers all made possible by the volunteers laying out the greens, running the kitchen, running the bar and working the desk. Thanks volunteers.

Please note that next Saturday will be the last of the Winter Saturday Social Bowls season. But, do not lament as Saturday Summer Social Bowls will commence in early October.

Tuesday 18th Social Bowls
On a fine day marred only by a brief shower of rain 44 bowlers contested two games of pairs.

The Winners were Cheryl Saunders & Brett Lyme from Sturt Bowling Club.
Runners Up were Lee Robinson & Greg Bowen from Milang Bowling Club.
Best Second Game went to the home team of Geoff Wood & Daniel Krebbekx.
Sustenance was provided in the form of a hot mug of delicious soup prepared by Deb Brown & Pam Bainger.

Congratulations to the prize winners and big thanks to the team of volunteers who made the event possible.

Please be aware that next Tuesday (25th) will the last game Tuesday pairs for this winter season.

Saturday 15th Social three bowls triples
As a hint that spring and warmer weather is on the way 42 bowlers enjoyed pleasant, sunny conditions on Saturday.
Two 13 end games were played separated by a break in which Carol Siviour served her home made soup. Cathy Simpson served behind the bar catering for a steady flow of customers.
At the conclusion of game 2 the Winners were: Neville Jacobsen, Shaun Golding & Daniel Krebbekx. Runners Up: Michael Trapeznik, Denise Stringer & Tag Hunter. Best Second Game: Peter Hallion, JanJaenisch & Grant Wilson.
Congratulations to the winners, thanks to the good turn out of players and a big thank you to all the volunteers who made the event both possible and successful.
