Today there was a good turn out of 48 bowlers to contest Tuesday's pairs. In favourable weather the husband & wife pair of Bill & Sandie Nash from VHBC proved to be the dominant pair & took out the winner's prize. In second spot were John Lynch & Darryl Bennett while John Doyle & Phil Menhennett were Best Second Game winners.

A good turn out of 52 bowlers for Tuesday Social pairs. The cool conditions were alleviated by the occasional burst of sunshine making for an enjoyable day on the green.
Two names that pop up quite often in the Winners position are the mixed club pair of Steve Rose (Goolwa BC) & Kym McCrostie (Port Elliot BC). Another familiar pair are GBC bowlers Daniel Krebbekx & Geoff Dutton in the Runners Up position. Also from Goolwa BC are John Lynch & Kevin Willersdorf who were Best Second Game Winners.
Well played everyone and a hearty thanks to the volunteers.

Southern Fleurieu Super Series -The ALL STARS NIGHT

The format of the night was the winner of the Supa Series being THE GOOLWA STEAMERS VS THE ALL STARS made up of 2 rinks from each other club, Encounter Bay, Pt Elliot and Victor Harbour.

A great evening to finish the season which reinforced the camaraderie between all clubs.

Congratulations to all who were involved and with a close final result, Goolwa Steamers winning 34 to 26

To cap the night off our very own Anne Wood and her team were rink of the night.

Bring on next season and we hope to see many more players join in the fun

Go you Steamers

Social bowls - Tuesday pairs

52 bowlers took part in this event and although it was initially a cool, overcast day with a little drizzle the competition was hot.

The winners were Victor Harbor Bowling Club pair David Cannon & Gislain Delamere.
Runners Up were Goolwa’s Peter Hallion & Victor Harbor’s Jody Kraguljac.
It is is pleasing to see the Goolwa ladies pair Denise Stringer & Cathy Simpson take the prize for Best Second Game Winners, well done ladies.

Thank you to all the volunteers, especially those who work behind the scenes and might not get the recognition they deserve.

Hopefully we will see you all again next Tuesday 26th May.

Those 20 bowlers who played in the Saturday Social Bowls were rewarded with unexpected excellent weather. The forecast had suggested rain and perhaps this contributed to the low number of participants. However, as the Crows were playing an afternoon game at home this is more likely to be the reason.
The organisers decided the numbers could be more effective in games of pairs using the 2x4x2 format for 2 games each of 11 ends.
The events Winners were Rob Kaplan & David Evans closely followed by Runners Up Grant Wilson & Les Hughes.

Mark Doley excelled in the kitchen providing a snack of chips for all present. The chips were enjoyed by all although nearly resulting in a fight at one table when 2 bowlers vied for the crispy bits in the bottom of the bowl.

Thank you to all the volunteers who organised the days event, worked behind the bar, helped in the kitchen & layed out the rinks.
Despite the low numbers it was a very enjoyable day.
Come and join us next Saturday 23rd May for a 12:00 start.

The glorious weather brought out 58 bowlers to the greens for the Tuesday pairs.
Davis Cannon & Darryl Hammett, the pair from VHBC, took out the winners prize.
Runners Up were Jody Kraguljac (VHBC) & Peter Hallion (GBC).
The best performers in the second game were Steve Rose (GBC) & Kym McCrostie (PEBC).
Unfortunately Kym was unavailable for the photo and was represented by Dave Amber, a Dalai Lama impersonator missing his saffron robe due to an accident with a sauce bottle.
Congratulations to the winners & we hope that all players had an enjoyable day.

The cool conditions brought a touch of wintery weather to the Goolwa greens. However, the bowlers played with vigour with the visitors taking the lions share of the prizes. Bill Holman (Goolwa) & Mike Wenman (Port Elliot) took out the Winners prize ahead of Runners Up Jacky Jacobs & Kevin Newton (Milang). The prize for best second game winners was claimed by David Cannon & Gary Hancock (Victor Harbor).

Winter Social Bowls: Sat 25th April.

On this rain free ANZAC Day 28 bowlers participated in 2 games that were initially a bit testing due to a typical Goolwa breeze. However, the wind relented and allowed the games to be completed under calm conditions.
Those mounting the imaginary podium were Winners: Jim Hutton & Les Hughes, and Runners Up: Ian Daynes, Dave Evans & Tag Hunter.

A big thank you to Cathy Simpson & Andrea Radley who have taken on the task of organising Sat Social Bowls and the steep learning curve it entails. And, a pat on the back for Graham Cowling for showing the Young Maidens the way. Thank you to the nameless volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly.
