Remembering one of the great Friars. Batey was a champion on and off the field. Such a sad day to remember, but always glad we knew the great No 2.
Remembering, Senior Constable Fiona Robinson and Senior Constable Mark Bateman who sadly died in a traffic accident on the 20th of May 2000.
Senior Constable Mark Bateman, was married with two young children and Senior Constable Fiona Robinson had only been married just weeks earlier. They were both just 30 years, with their lives and dreams ahead of them.
Such tragic loss that touched so many. Our thoughts are with their families, friends and Victoria Police colleagues.
In 2013, we were honoured to work with our Geelong branch to dedicate the 'Fiona Robinson Children’s Emergency Room' at Geelong Hospital. The Children’s Department and the treatment room provides specialised care for children attending the emergency department.
In 2015, our Blue Ribbon Foundation - Portland Branch dedicated 'The Mark Bateman Emergency Helipad' at Portland Hospital (currently not in use).
Fitting tributes for their outstanding community service. They will always be remembered.
