Don’t forget to sign up for the inaugural women’s 5v5 league!

It starts next Monday 12th October at Curtin Playing Fields 🥏

Welcome to the Inaugural Women’s (Mini) League - held alongside the Open’s League in partnership with Canberra Ultimate and Fyshwick Ultimate.

Factory Ultimate is supporting the running of this 5-week mini league, in a 5v5 hat league format, to help promote women’s Ultimate in the ACT and build towards the start of our club season.

The competition will run as a ‘hat league’, which means you can sign up as a single player, and each week the teams will be arranged for you! You will have the opportunity to play with different people every week 🤝

A hat competition is a great way to meet new people, and good introduction to a new sport 🥏

If you’re looking to be a part of the women’s Ultimate-playing community, or the larger Ultimate community in general, come join us for some fun from Monday 12th October until 9th November in Curtin.

Let us (formally) introduce you to the Executive Board committee behind the 2026/2027 season for Factory 👋🏻

For the third (and final) year running, we have Liz de Hoog as our President, and Emily Chan as our Secretary.

Our trusty Treasurer from the 2025/2026 season is back for another stint, Corinna Schubert.

Our amazing team is rounded out by some amazing long-term club members - Kirsten Ayre, Sara Gillett and Paarani Santhirasegaran.

We are still keen to have some ‘young blood’ who are looking to volunteer and give back to the club, so if you think you may be interested, drop us an email and we’ll get in touch!

We are all excited over here for the final push to kick start the season, after all the work behind-the-scenes in the past few months 🥰

Another day, another Factory player who had an awesome campaign at Worlds in the last few months.

Sheryn Ringland (Sheryn Ringland ) and fellow Factory veteran, Julia Birchall, competed in the 2026 World Masters Ultimate Championships in Nottingham, UK, on 26th June until 4th July 2026.

Both women competed in the Grand Masters division with the Australian women’s team, Sunset. They not only competed amongst some of the best in the world, they came away with the Spirit prize 😎🏅

Here’s what Sheryn had to share about her experience:

“I was so excited for my first ever worlds campaign with a women’s grand masters team! There was a core of Brisbane players, but the rest of the team were from across Australia (Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth), Europe and 2 last minute pick ups from Canada! Some of them I have known and played against for years, but it was such an amazing experience getting to know all of them both on and off the field.

With everyone so spread out we didn’t get much of an opportunity to train or play together before the tournament. But with such a small roster (just 16!) and 2 set lines, it didn’t take us long to get to know each other.

Our division only had 10 teams, and except us and Great Britain, the rest of the teams were from USA and Canada. But it was still such a fascinating experience getting to play against teams from other countries. We came 9th overall, managing to beat Great Britain twice. But the highlight was definitely winning spirit! The whole team really showed and supported each other to play with the best spirit we could, and it was just so fun and rewarding playing with such a wonderful group of women and coming away with the spirit prize.

An extra bonus for me was getting to play and do a bit of travel with fellow club member Ju, who I’m pretty sure I hadn’t played with on a women’s team before!”

Can’t believe you’re Grand Masters age, Sheryn and Ju! You both don’t look a day over 30 🙊

Looking forward to seeing you both on the field for another women’s season together 🫶
