🏑 ANOTHER WEEK OF FINALS HOCKEY IS HERE! 🖤💛

back at it again this week with PRELIM FINALS! TWO Senior teams still in the running!

This week is also the SEMI FINALS for our Juniors and a huge congratulations to our THREE Junior Teams who have made it into the finals, you have made your Checks Family Proud!

We’ve got a massive weekend ahead!

This is what the season has been building towards, and we’d love to see a HUGE Old Canberrans crowd on the sidelines across the weekend. We would love to see as many spectators as possible wearing their 90th anniversary shirts as we wrap up our 90th Anniversary season.

The sticks are almost down, the season is coming to an end… and it’s time to swap the hockey gear for something a little more glamorous! ✨🥂

Join us for the Old Canberrans Black & Gold Gala, our end-of-season presentation evening and a chance to celebrate another fantastic year of hockeyand everything that makes our club so special.

📅 Saturday 24 October at Eastlakes Gungahlin
🥂 Doors open 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start

🏑 Juniors playing seniors: $60

We’ll celebrate the achievements of our teams and players, recognise some very deserving award winners and, most importantly, enjoy a great night together as we wrap up our 90th Anniversary year🖤💛

🏑 FINALS HOCKEY IS HERE! 🖤💛

The regular season is done and dusted, and we’re heading into Semi Finals weekend with THREE Checks teams still in the running!

A huge congratulations to our SL1 Men and SL2 Men, who finished the season as MINOR PREMIERS! An incredible achievement, but there’s still work to do!

We’ve got a massive Saturday afternoon/evening double-header on Watt for our men followed by our SL2 Women taking to Carter on Sunday.

🏑 500 GAMES FOR KATE! 🖤💛

A huge congratulations to the wonderful Kate, who this weekend reached an incredible milestone, her 500th (and 501st 🫣) game for Old Canberrans!

And because game 500 apparently wasn’t quite special enough… Kate also made her CL1 ‘debut’, fulfilling a very special dream of getting to take the field alongside Cat. 🥹🖤💛

There is something pretty wonderful about hockey giving us moments like these, where after hundreds of games, there are still new memories to make and special milestones to share with the people who mean the most.

Kate, we are incredibly lucky to have you as part of the Old Canberrans family. Thank you for the years you have given to our club, for the friendships, memories and contribution you have made along the way.

The Chris MacKinnon Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend is an annual Hockey ACT event where the hockey community goes pink to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research. The weekend has been running since 2013 in honour of one of the Hockey ACT community Life Members, Chris MacKinnon, who sadly lost her breast cancer battle in January 2013.

It's that time of year again when we start preparing for our end of season celebrations. Please save the date for our Senior Presentation night Gala dinner, on Saturday 24th October. Full details to come soon!

Dates for junior presentation will be announced soon also.
