Recent Australian Nationals event director Paul Petrehn and his brother John Petrehn back in the day with some sibling rivalry in competition.
Watch this video and Listen with your volume up to hear the officials as John throws his marker into Paul's basket and Paul throws it out closer than his own marker.

Wattle Happen Racing is officially in 'fly-to-targets' mode for the Art of Flight National Championship this week.
Team is ready!
Confidence is somewhere between mum duties and I can totally nail those targets!
Looking forward to Wattle Happen this week and making sure targets are dead centre.

Well that's a wrap for Canberra Balloon Spectacular 2026!
Next stop is nationals, and while our competitiveness is still high, things are a little different this year with an 8 week old baby joining our team! So it'll be interesting to see... Wattle Happen...

It's one of those days when the two sports of Wattle Happen Racing collide. Quick tether for the Canberra Balloon Spectacular and then up to One Raceway for Will to race at St George. Missed the first race due to a wet track, but out for the second race of four now.

No flying today for the Canberra Balloon Spectacular. Instead we tethered balloons. When the winds are not the direction we want, but it's calm enough to inflate, balloons will inflate and stand up to give the crowd something to look at. Sometimes you can tie off to ropes and do what's called a 'tethered flight' where you go up and down still tied to the ground. Our little puppy Ghost is growing up around balloons and is becoming a very good balloon dog now!
