Top speed is a use-it-or-lose-it quality.

If you’re not regularly hitting maximum velocity in training, you’re not maintaining it — you’re slowly losing it every season without realising.

Most players sprint. Very few actually train top speed. There’s a difference.

Flying runs give your body the stimulus it needs to develop and protect your maximum velocity. Full recovery between reps. Quality over quantity. Every time.

Add this to your week. More training sessions like this inside FFC — 7-day free trial. Link in bio 👇

Female footballers are up to 6x more likely to tear an ACL than males. But that’s not just biology.

Most women don’t start strength training until 15+ — and even then it’s often 10kg dumbbells, bands, and poor technique. That’s not strength training, and it’s part of why the injury rate stays high.

Get strong. Get fit. Get fast.

Inside FFC, strength programming is real, progressive, and built for female footballers — not an afterthought.

Nobody tells you where the line is.

You watch parents push too hard and watch their daughters fall out of love with the game. You watch parents do nothing and watch their daughters drift away from it entirely.

So you sit at dinner every week carrying both fears at the same time — not wanting to be the reason she didn't go as far as she could have, and not wanting to be the reason she stopped loving it.

That tension is real. And it doesn't go away by pushing more or backing off more.

It goes away when she has ownership. When the development is hers — her goals, her program, her progress to track. When she's pulling herself forward instead of waiting to be pushed or held back.

The players who keep the spark longest aren't the most pushed. They're the most invested in their own development.

FFC gives her that — a structured program she owns, a community that backs her, and a clear direction that doesn't depend on you having all the answers.

The move isn’t the problem. The reps are.

Fear of trying something in a game almost never comes from lack of skill. It comes from lack of repetition. You haven’t done it enough times for your body to trust it under pressure.

When you’ve drilled something a thousand times — you don’t think. You just do it. The hesitation disappears because the decision is already made before the moment arrives.

That’s the difference between a player who backs herself and one who plays it safe every time. Not confidence. Automation.

Train it until it’s boring. Then back yourself when it counts.

Inside FFC you get skill sessions, training programs and a community of female footballers all building the same thing — so when your moment comes, you don’t freeze.

Two players. Same ability. Same training load.

One backs herself in every 1v1. Takes the shot. Asks for the ball when the game is on the line.

The other plays safe. Every time. Takes the easy pass. Pulls out of the challenge she could have won.

The difference almost never comes from talent. It comes from the environment they trained in — what got celebrated, what got corrected, and what happened in the five seconds after a mistake.

Praise the clearance every time and she learns safety is the right answer. Celebrate the attempt — even when it doesn't come off — and she learns to back herself.

One environment shrinks players. The other grows them.

The player who plays free wasn't born confident. She was trained in a place where trying and failing was expected — and the response to a mistake was head up, next ball, go again.

That environment doesn't happen by accident. It's built deliberately by the coaches and parents around her.

What kind of environment are you creating?

Kicking power doesn't come from your kicking leg.

It comes from a chain — plant foot stability, glute activation, core rotation, and then the leg. In that order. Every time.

Break the chain anywhere and power leaks. The player with the unstable plant foot. The one with the weak glute on her kicking side. The one with no trunk rotation driving through the ball. All of them kicking with a fraction of the power available to them — and none of them training the parts that would actually fix it.

Hip thrusts build the glute that drives the kick. Single-leg stability work locks in the plant foot. Rotational core work transfers the power from your lower body into the ball.

That combination — trained consistently alongside technique work — is what actually produces a harder, more accurate kick.

Most players spend years trying to kick harder by kicking more. The ones who figure this out get there faster.

Inside FFC, strength training is connected directly to football outcomes — including this one.

The step up to senior football at 18 is bigger than most players expect.

It's not just that the game is faster. It's that the women around you have been training specifically — strength, speed, repeated sprint ability — for years. And if you haven't, that gap shows up immediately. In the physical battles. In the second half. In the moments where senior football separates itself from junior football most brutally.

The players who make the transition well aren't just talented. They arrived prepared. Strength sessions already in place. Speed work already done. A training week structured around what senior football actually demands — not just showing up to team sessions and hoping it's enough.

This is what that preparation looks like at 18. Two strength sessions. Speed and repeated sprint work. Team training given everything. Recovery taken seriously.

It's not complicated. It just needs to actually happen.

Inside FFC, training at 18 is built around the real demands of senior female football — so the step up doesn't come as a shock.

Does lifting weights stunt your growth? No — but this myth has stopped more young players getting strong, getting faster, getting fitter, and becoming more resilient than anything else.

Without those strength years behind them, they’re more exposed to serious injury later on.

Bad technique and doing too much too soon are the actual risks.

Programmed properly, strength training builds bone density, coordination, and injury resilience — not shorter players.

Every FFC program is built age-appropriate from the start, so you’re never guessing what’s safe.

Most female footballers train the same way all year.

Same sessions. Same intensity. Same approach — whether it's July or January, pre-season or round 15.

And then they wonder why they arrive at pre-season no better than they left. Why they're fatigued by round 10. Why the players pulling away from them seem to be improving across seasons while they're staying still.

The difference is periodisation. Knowing that the off-season is for building — maximum strength, technical weaknesses, aerobic base. That pre-season is for converting — turning that fitness into football performance. That in-season is for maintaining — protecting what you built without accumulating the fatigue that kills performance by the back half of the season.

Three phases. Three completely different goals. One plan that connects them.

Inside FFC, training is periodised across the full year — so every phase builds on the last and nothing is wasted.

The most explosive players on the pitch at 18 didn't get there by accident.

They started building at 15 or 16 — quietly, consistently, without seeing dramatic results straight away. Strength first. Then power on top of it. Then patience while it compounded.

Explosiveness isn't a talent. It's a physical quality built over time through the right training in the right order. Strength gives you the force. Plyometrics teaches your body to apply it fast. And the two together — done consistently over two to three years — produce a player who moves differently to everyone around her.

At 16 you're at the perfect stage to start building it properly. Early enough that it compounds into something significant by the time you're 18. Old enough that your body can handle real power training.

The players who wish they'd started earlier always say the same thing — start now.

Inside FFC, power development is built into a complete program — progressive, age-appropriate, and connected to what actually makes you more explosive on the pitch.
