Heads up, cycling fam! 🚴‍♀️
-—————————
We’ll be closed tomorrow, but don’t worry, we’ll be back in the shop and ready to help on Wednesday!

We’re pretty sure Leon is already rolling his eyes all the way from Cape St Francis… but we love him anyway. 😜❤️

See you then 👊

Rumour has it that this man is so fast that Strava once accused him of being a motorcycle. 🏍️

Some say he doesn’t run trails - the trails just appear beneath him. Others claim he can overtake his own shadow on a downhill.💨

He’s allegedly the reason the Odland’s speed camera had to be changed from 40 km/h to 50 km/h. The municipality got tired of him setting it off on his morning runs.🏃🏻

A former professional cyclist, current trail destroyer, coffee enthusiast, business owner, friend, husband, dad and all-round legend, this man continues to prove that age is just a number. While most people in their 40s are looking for reading glasses, Kevin is looking for another mountain to run up.

His legs have become somewhat legendary over the years too. Some say they’re powered by pure determination. Others suspect they’re kept suspiciously youthful and silky smooth courtesy of his wife at Hutton Medical.

No matter if he’s flying down a trail on two wheels or two feet, leading The Bike Trail or Coffee Shop, Kevin somehow manages to make the impossible look easy.💪🏽

Wishing the man, the myth, the machine a very Happy Birthday! May your climbs be short, your descents be long, your coffee strong and your Strava segments forever safe from the rest of us.

Happy Birthday, Kev! 🎉🚴🏃☕

A HUGE shoutout to Kwano Academy. 💪🏽🖤🚴🏾
——
These guys are changing lives through a powerful combination of education and cycling with their simple but impactful mission: use cycling as a catalyst to help young people develop life skills, improve academically and create brighter futures. 🖤🚴🏼🚴🏾

What makes Kwano so special is that the focus extends far beyond the bike.

Learners receive academic support, mentoring, career guidance and access to opportunities that help prepare them for life after school. Their philosophy of “No Study, No Ride” reinforces the importance of education alongside sport. 💪🏽💪🏽

Over the years, they’ve helped hundreds of young riders discover their potential, producing talented cyclists while instilling values such as integrity, accountability, commitment and respect. The academy now supports well over 100 children and continues to grow its impact throughout our community. 🖤

There is some serious talent coming through this programme, but even more importantly, there are young people becoming confident, disciplined and purpose-driven adults.👏🏽

From all of us, thank you to everyone behind Kwano Academy - the coaches, mentors, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who make this possible.

You are proving that a bicycle can be so much more than a bike; it can be a vehicle for education, opportunity and hope. ❤️

This is a cause we’re incredibly proud to stand behind and you should be too!

Have you met Raj? 🚲

Behind every smooth ride, fixed puncture, tubeless setup that just works… there’s usually someone behind the scenes making it happen. The people you don’t always see are often the ones making the biggest impact out on the road - and that’s Raj. 💪🏽

He keeps bikes moving and people rolling.

If it’s tricky, broken, leaking, rattling or just refusing to cooperate, chances are Raj can sort it out. 🔧

He’s the quiet force keeping so many riders on the road - and we love him for that!

Drop a 🚲 if Raj has worked on your bike
And a 🎡 if you’ve met him in person 👇

There are few things in life more guaranteed to divide a cycling group ride than the phrase:
“Guys… single file.”🚲🚲🚲

Suddenly, every fully-grown adult in Lycra transforms into a persecuted freedom fighter.
One oke sighs dramatically and sits up like he’s just been asked to donate a kidney.

Another pretends not to hear because he’s halfway through explaining his Zone 2 philosophy to someone who absolutely did not ask.

Someone at the back shouts, “CAR BACK!” with the urgency of an incoming missile strike, despite the car being approximately 4 kilometres away and doing 17km/h behind a tractor.

And then comes the real masterpiece:
“But we were single file.”
No.
No you were not.

You were a drifting, emotionally unstable peloton occupying both lanes and at least three different conversations.

Cyclists have an extraordinary ability to believe the rules apply to other cyclists.

Every rider thinks they’re the sensible one.

The guy overlapping wheels like he’s in the Tour de France?
He thinks you’re dangerous.

The woman riding dead centre of the road while opening a jelly baby packet with both hands?
Certain she’s the only calm presence in the group.

And somehow the ride leader,poor soul , spends the entire morning repeating the same phrases like a tired primary school teacher on a field trip:
* “Single file.”
* “Hold your line.”
* “Car up.”
* “NO, YOUR OTHER LEFT.”
By the coffee stop everyone’s forgotten the drama anyway.

Now it’s:
* comparing tyre pressures nobody understands,
* discussing a new saddle as if it’s a life-changing spiritual experience,
* and one man explaining his FTP to a captive audience who simply wanted a muffin.
Yet despite all the moaning…
next Saturday everyone will be back.
Clipping in at 5:58am.

Cold, sleep deprived, financially ruined by carbon fibre.
Ready to argue about single file all over again.

Deep down, cyclists don’t actually want peace…

They want:
* mild suffering,
* expensive hydration,
* and a reason to post average speed screenshots online with the caption:
“Easy spin.”

Happy Friday everyone…and remember: single file - before you land up on Plett in Stereo! 📢
