SWD Youth Squads Announced
We’re delighted to announce the inclusion of our Hot Steppers in-form centre, Tinashe Mazeka, in this year’s SWD Academy team.
His selection comes as no surprise, as it is richly deserved. The hard work, dedication, and commitment he has shown throughout the year have been instrumental in this achievement. It has not always been an easy journey for this young man, as there were many obstacles on the road to success. The latest setback was a horrific shoulder injury in his opening match of the season, which kept him sidelined for six weeks.
It was a race against time to get him fit and ready for trials, but the youngster showed true grit and determination to make it through to the final round on Wednesday.
Knowing how close he came last year, we were excited for this opportunity, and confidence was high after Wednesday’s gruelling trials against the best in the region.
“This year I gave it my all,” were his words afterwards — and that is the lesson to the youngsters out there: when the odds are stacked against you and the opportunity arises, you step up to the challenge and give it your all. The results will speak for themselves.
Well done, young man. The comeback is always greater than the setback.
Well done as well to everyone who took part in the final trials on the day. That alone is already a great achievement, and we know you will come back stronger and better prepared going forward.
