The 2026/27 Pre-Season Training is officially underway, and now is the time to lay the foundation for a successful SWD Cricket League campaign. Every run, every catch, every ball bowled, and every training session counts.

It’s been a tough season for the players of Plett Pioneers Cricket Club, but through determination and heart our men’s team has fought their way into the SWD Promotion League Final. The final will take place on Saturday, 21 March 2026 in Oudtshoorn, and it’s an opportunity for our boys to proudly represent Plettenberg Bay on a big stage.

As a small community club, getting the team to Oudtshoorn comes with travel costs, and we are humbly reaching out to the greater Plettenberg Bay community for support. Any donation or sponsorship, big or small, will help our players make the journey and give their all in the final.

PIRATES UNITED REMAIN UNBEATEN IN PROMOTION LEAGUE

Pirates United, Ramblers and Plett Pioneers all recorded victories in the round of matches in the SWD Cricket Promotion league that was played the past weekend.

Pirates United, who defeated Riversdale by 10 wickets are the only unbeaten team in the Promotion league.

Harlequins Forces and Plett Pioneers were victorious in the Women’s Division 2 competition.

🏏 Weekend Match Wrap-Up 🏏

It was a full weekend of cricket action for our Pioneers teams! 💛💪

PPCC 2nd XI travelled to Knysna to take on the Knysna Cavaliers Cricket Club 3rd XI. After electing to bat first, our side posted 155 all out in 25.1 overs, led by Leighton Bosman (33 off 37) and Shanwell Marlo Martins (30 off 20). Despite a strong bowling effort, including wickets from Louis Henn (2/29) and Reagan Titus (1/22), the Cavaliers chased down the target in 24.3 overs, thanks largely to a superb 107* from Ruaan Stander.
📊 Result: PPCC 2nd XI lost by 3 wickets.

Meanwhile at home, our PPCC 3rd XI faced the Knysna Cavaliers 2nd XI in a Reserve League clash at New Horizons Sports Field. After being sent in to bat, the team managed 116 all out in 31 overs, with Desmond September (21) and Alastair Ludick (15) top scoring. With the ball, Norman Solomons (3/32) and Abraham Esau (2/15) led the fightback, but the visitors held on to win by 3 wickets.
📊 Result: PPCC 3rd XI lost by 3 wickets.

Despite the results, there were many positives — solid partnerships, promising bowling spells, and the fighting spirit the Pioneers are known for. 💛💥
