🦈 PLETT SHARK SPOTTERS ARE BACK ON DUTY!

Following receipt of our signed Memorandum of Agreement with Bitou Municipality on 5 October 2026, we are very happy to announce that Plett Shark Spotters is officially back on duty!

OCTOBER OPERATIONS
📍 Central Beach & The Wreck
🕒 07:30 – 16:30 daily

From November through April, our aim is to operate across five beaches for the busy summer period, with the long-term goal of maintaining year-round shark spotting operations.

While municipal funding contributes towards the programme, staffing costs still need to be funded externally. Our ability to maintain and expand beach coverage depends on sponsorships, donations, partnerships and the continued support of our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us get back on the beaches:

The Lubner Foundation, Beacon Island Resort, The Rectory Hotel, Mermaid Ball, Surfers Ball, Love Coffee, Smoothie Bar, Market Off Main, Plett Villas, Robberg Estates, Plett Boardriders Association, Conserve Eden, New Era Beds, Eco Oak Flooring, Bay Sauna, James Pattinson, The Granny Groms & Surf Cafe (to name a few!). 💙

Every contribution helps keep trained spotters on our beaches and supports local employment, shark safety, monitoring, research, education and conservation.

We are back, and now our goal is to build a sustainable programme that can keep watch over Plett’s beaches year-round. 🦈🌊

Time to strip down and run for a good cause. Plett Surf is back with our 2nd Hollard Daredevil Run! 🩲🔥

We’re painting the town purple to support prostate and testicular cancer awareness with CANSA and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of SA.

•When: Friday, 23 October | 3:00 PM sharp
•Start: Insurance & Investment Shop, Upper Deck Building (Main Street)
•The Route: Roughly 5 km of running (plus a b**r pitstop or two)
•Finish: Plett Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse Central Beach for well-deserved boerie rolls and cold b**rs at the bar 🌭🍻
•Entry: R200

PLEASE NOTE: DATE CHANGE 💙

Due to an unavoidable clash with an important meeting involving another institution, we have made the decision to reschedule our AGM. As both meetings are of great importance, we felt it best to move our AGM to allow everyone the opportunity to attend.
