Dropping targets can expose weaknesses in even experienced sporting clays shooters, especially when competition target setters use terrain, true pairs, and timing to force the shot. In this new Clay Lab video, Kiersten Sales of Team Fiocchi and Team Krieghoff breaks down how she approaches falling targets with a simple, repeatable process. Kiersten explains how she connects with the bottom edge, matches the target’s speed, and lets the target gently push her hands downward before pulling away. It is a technique every NSCA competitor should understand and practice. Low-Gun or Pre-Mount—which approach works best for different Sporting Clays targets?

In this new video from The Clay Lab, Caesar Guerini Pro-Staff Shooter Jasper Copelan breaks down how he shoots three different target presentations using both techniques. Jasper works through a quartering target and two different looping targets while explaining how his setup, gun movement, timing, and visual connection change between Low-Gun and Pre-Mount shooting.

Jasper shoots his Caesar Guerini Invictus III with 32-inch fixed barrels, and we mounted a ShotKam Gen 4 to his sh***un so you can see the target and gun movement from his perspective.

A good first day at the 2026 South Central Regional Championship at Providence Hill ! Finished today’s portion of the Main Event with a 61/68 and followed it up with a 92/100 in Super Sporting.

I also had the pleasure of shooting Super Sporting with Anthony Matarese Jr. A.I.M. Shooting School who made a 99/100 look smooth from start to finish. Co grats to Blaize Whitehead shooting a 100 💪.

Happy with the start and looking forward to getting back out there for the rest of the championship. Plenty of targets still ahead, and the goal is to keep building on today’s momentum, stay focused, and enjoy the experience!
