s to the materials. Both as an architect and boat builder, Frank has made his living paying attention to the smallest details. In fact, he says that this is one of the reasons he became attracted to Egret to begin with: "The attention to detail was unbelievable compared to other boats." And now that he owns the company, he's dedicated to improving Egret's already high standard of excellence. Frank's background in architecture and engineering—not to mention his fishing experience—helped him immensely when it came to learning the boat-building trade. Not only does his experience allow him to design highly efficient systems, it also lets him see problems from an outsider's perspective. For example, one piece of feedback Frank heard was that the deck wasn't conducive to the sort of moving around that fly fishermen needed to do. In response, he completely redesigned the deck, allowing a much greater freedom of movement. And in the process, he shaved another 150 pounds off the boat. Another improvement that's happened since the company changed hands, is the new 50/50 resin-to-material ratio, which the company recently achieved. No other boats on the water can claim this, and it makes the Egrets even lighter and stronger. This dedication to always looking for new solutions is particularly evident in the company's new hybrid 20' boat, which will be released in 2011.
