October is that sweet transition time from crowds to community. Everyone who put in the summer miles gets a serene, reflective NYC retreat.
This weekend’s nor’easter is the transition between short sleeves and long sleeves. You don’t need to overthink it...normal layers and a splash jacket is the ticket through Halloween. Neoprene comes after that, and drysuits on winter solstice.
If you want to know how year-round paddling works, we’re hosting a free Off-Season Info Session (online) this Sunday at 10:00 AM. Link in the bio. Join us!
We don’t leave our river when there’s a chill. After all, kayaks were invented in the Arctic. We’ll be here year-round, every weekend and every Wednesday night at 6:45 PM. 🐻❄️
With more time indoors, we suggest picking up Robert Macfarlane’s “Is A River Alive?” You’ll read: “I am the river; the river is me.” That’s why we do this. Why do you get on the water?
